Ive had decent luck out at Echo Lake in Fort Worth right off 35 on the east side. Just make sure you have some...personal protection. Ive never personally had an issue there but it is not the best neighborhood so just keep your eyes open and be aware. Also basically anywhere on the trinity will get you a multitude of species lots of LMB, channels, carp, gar if you're in the right places, crappie, etc.

Snakes are pretty thick already. I have been avoiding the south side at Keller municipal. Went this Saturday and caught about 9 bass between my brother and I. Most pretty small, but had a few in the 2.5 range. Seemed to be liking the chartreuse lizard early, the started on the pumpkin lizard later afternoon. Caught most just right outside the weed line. Fun day!

Try the pond north of Keller municipal. You walk under the bridge on the northern side of the pond you're talking about. It looks like nothing, but I've caught better numbers and better size up there. The east side, across from the apartments, has been best for me.
Capp Smith is good for dinks, but there are decent sized bass in there. I've been skunked but also had 15 bass days there, too.

Thanks Duck Hunter. I know exactly the pond you speak of and that has been the better of the two for sure. Very will maintained and easy to navigate around. I really like that place. I live very close to Capp Smith and have been skunked every time I have gone including a couple of hours yesterday. Had lots of bites, but they felt very small and could have been dinks or something else, not sure. Mainly fish the cat tails section just above the main body of water. Now its become personal to pull something out of that place! Probably go back later this afternoon for some more punishment.

Along 377, in Keller, on the West side are many condos and apartments. There is a string of tanks these guys along with the buildings. These tanks are rumoured to hold fish. I plan to find out.

I drove by Knapp Lake this morning and that pond/lake looks really inviting. Located at Denton Hwy(377)/and 820. I read some old posts that it used to be pretty good. However, this place may have lots of snakes. I think we all know I don't like snakes so...

Duck Hunter, when was the last time you did well at Capp Smith? Got any tips? The last time I was there was either June or July. I caught great numbers there on slider worms and a weightless grande bass fluke-type bait, fished like a jerk bait. I've also done well on spinner baits cast as far out to the middle as I can when the pond scum and grass grows in. I used to live north of downtown Fort Worth, so it was only a 25 minute drive or so. Now I live south of I20, so I probably won't fish Capp Smith or the Keller ponds much anymore. Too far of a drive and I've got a lot of places near me I want to learn.

I ran over to Knapp Lake for a quick attempt at catching some bass. Within the first 10 minutes, I caught my fist one. I was excited and thought, why haven't I tried this place sooner? The first catch attracted a "local" which wanted to talk to me about the lake history which ended up being an hour long conversation. Although, I appreciated the info, I didn't get much else accomplished. I noticed there isn't a ton of space to fish from unless you dare walking through the weeds on what looked like trails. I had on shorts to that was a no go. According to the local the South side was private and only intended for the apartment dwellers. Not sure how true that is, but I might try to access that side next time as the cover looks a little more inviting. Anyway, thanks for the tip on this place and I will be giving it another shot in the near future. Heck, Im looking into fishing Kayak's which seems like a perfect fit for this place.

Final assessment of Knapp Lake (820/Denton Hwy). Seems to be a great pond/lake if you had access to more than about 80 yards to fish. This section does get a little packed, but even one person could cover every inch of it, a few times, in less than a couple of hours. I have been three times and have caught 3 bass. Once on each trip. The place has lots of cover, cat tails and some laydowns, just cant really get to them without a watercraft.
The good news, I finally caught a bass at Capp Smith Park! Caught the little guy on a jig. Now I am done with that place for a while. Just had to get at least one.
