I have fished around a waste water treatment plant where they release the cleaned water back into a creek and have seen used condoms and tissue paper floating in it. It ain't perfect lol. But you can probably drink the water..... flush

Most people drink the water from lake ray Hubbard water and RC is its main feeder. Plastic is not biodegradable, treatment plants can't treat plastic they have to physically remove them. But what you saw are most likely washed down directly from the streets not from treatment plants. I can't imagine you would fish in water that look or smell dirty.

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

I personally know quite a few people who prefer stripers from Texoma/Red River compared to Tawakoni hybrids, and I can confirm that Red River stripers do taste better than Tawakoni hybrids "Tawakoni hybrids taste like mud", said one of my friends ... but would I go as far as saying twak fish soak in sewage water or eat poop from Quinlan, ABSOLUTELY not! Lol Neither would I say such about RC fish.

It wasn't RC and there were no streets for the stuff I saw to wash down from. I had some buddies with me and they saw it too. It didn't effect the fishing but if I ate fish, I wouldn't have eaten any cuaght there.

If it wasn't RC, then I have no comment, I was talking about RC and RH reservoir, a drinking water reservoir, when you quoted me.

Metroplex watersheds, the many water treatment plants, city drainage, etc. Don't add up to clean water, but countryside water also has agriculture pesticides and fertilizer pollution, such is the price of modernity. But we're not in a third world country, not yet anyway, lol. RC is not the Trinity River which has been polluted by industrial waste and illegal dumping for years. We still have public safety agency, if and when things get worse in the future we will get fish consumption warning, but there are none now.

RC fish and RH are the same fish, they swim up and down the creek during high water level. There are nothing wrong with those fish. Just follow your taste buds, that's all.

Alright I'm off my soapbox now. Lol

Lol, if you really want to, I will tell you for the fact that fish that eat poop don't taste like poop. You know about Mekong River, right? Well there millions of boat houses on the banks of the Mekong, guess where they unload their dump everyday? That's right straight down in the water where the fish are waiting for their buffet, lol. Have you ever heard of People said Mekong River fish taste like poop? The answer is no because poop eating fish, don't taste like poop. Lmao. Neither would stinkbaits loving catfish |taste stinky.

i watched an episode of dirty jobs where the tilapia ate the feces of the hybrid striper in the farm, as a filtration system, and the tilapia were sold for food just like the hybrids. That being said there would probably never be enough raw sewage leakage to have an effect on the fish, plus raw sewage is biodegradable and microorganisms take care of it quickly. If RC had a Mercury or arsenic spill we'd be looking at a completely different issue. The fish are still plenty safe to eat, no lakes have consumption bans because of raw sewage that I know of, it's all PCBs, Mercury, and other toxic metals. RC sandbass don't taste bad because of sewage or waste water treatment plants, I think it was just an old batch of fish that tasted funny because they had no food so their bodies were deteriorating to keep them going on their mission.

It has been my experience that sandies caught in clear, rushing creek water taste infinitely better than lake caught sandies, and believe me i have eaten more than my fair share of them. This is the time of year I normally fil my freezer with sandie fillets, because the creeks i catch most of my sandies in have clear, running water, filtered by boulders and pea gravel, and the fish sort of get "cleansed"(in my mind anyway), of whatever they may have in them from spending the entire winter in the lake. In fact, wife prefers the spring fillets of creek water sandies over summertime lake sandie fillets. I am not that picky, i like em both! But the spring creek fillets are to us less fishy tasting, and quite delicious!

My humble way less than $.02 worth.

Rudy
