i don't eat the sand bass for 10 years .but i knew about the creek fish and lake fish what different before.why?because after the rain fish come by the creek .they stay with muddy water .so they taste like mud.if you catch fish from lake they taste sweet that's why they taste different!and after done fishing must be fix them the right way keep them fresh . KFJ is right... when they are running, they are consuming large amounts of both lake bait that have moved up along with native creek bait as well they are consuming fast and furious, which in turn they directly absorb. Lake sandies always taste sweeter and cleaner than the creek bass. However, I do think the treatment plants on RC and other creeks do affect the flavor. I've caught sandies off the creeks of Lavon that do not have treatment plants, and they taste very similar as to how they taste when they're pulled from the lake. On top of that, really think about all the suburban runoff that dumps into the creek after a rain.

About 4 years ago I had a fish fry with Sandies from RC and they were amazing. Like no fishy flavor at all. Couldnt stop eating them. But this year they definitely taste different. Not horrible but definitely a funky taste to them. Im catching and releasing this year for now on.

Anyone heard if the creek has gotten any rain today? Or did Lavon enough for them to open the dam and get some darn flow to the creek so some more fish will come up?

Not much in Garland by RC, some heavy rain for a few minutes. Should have plenty flowing in from McKinney and northern areas though that feed RC. Even more expected in the next several days.

Those fresh fish from the lake, after today's rain, should be free of muddy taste, right?

Those fresh fish from the lake, after today's rain, should be free of muddy taste, right? Should be, if they pushed in recently against this new high current.

RC is at 12' and still rising, fishing should be crazy good after this rain, hopefully the females show up.
