This is one of two tournaments put on each year at Choke sponsored by the Lions Club. I called Pete and he told me:
Heaviest 5 fish stringer: $750...1st $400...2nd $250...3rd 4th,5th,6th get their entry fee back Also, there is a voluntary $5 entry for the largest catfish caught, winner take all.
He expects 35-45 boats. Fishing is from when the gates are open at Calliham until 3:00 p.m. Weigh-in is near the Calliham boat ramp at the picnic incloser. Charlie
Enjoy to the full the resources that are within thy reach. -Pindar

So if 50 boats sign up thats $2500 prizes total $1550..
Does the Lions Club get all the extra money? Or do the prize amounts go up?
How could you stop people from cheating in a tourney like that? I've never fished one and am curious.

I am sure that it is run very well. If it is run like ACATS tournaments they are subject to a ploygraph if you are in the money. If you don't cheat then you have nothing to worry about.

Whats stopping someone from catching a cat the night before? How easy would it be to put it on a stringer or to just catch it on a jugline or trotline. Thats a big lake.

You will never stop all cheaters its just a thing you have to deal with. and when you beat them straight up then they know how bad they really do suck.
