Them would be home made skid shoes to us oilfield trash. They work great even in mud to ancor a vehicle. We wouldnt think any less of you for using them, altho some might ask if you sell propane for a living. grin

Im not understanding what you mean about the chain. Does the board go from one tire to another?

Its like a chock block you put behind your rear wheel, but it has a chain running up to the rear bumper, for the vehicle to roll backward it has to pull the chain into, but you can drive forward and it will just drag behind the vehicle by the chain. I hope that is clear.

My Dad used to do this when he was towing our boat with a little Datsun pickup. Otherwise the boat would pull the truck in the lake even when he had it in gear. it was embarrassing to watch him use it but now i am thinking it was a better idea than i thought. Guess when you get older you understand the parents wern't stupid after all.

The chain is in the center of a board or one of thoes factory chok blocks with the chain attached to the middle, the board has to be no longer than the tire is wide. the chain atach point is placed behind the tire, chain centered with tire and atached to bumper. It would be just like some one getting out when you were ready to launch and chocking your rear wheel to prevent rolling into the lake. A good Idea with a standard tranny. The diff between this and a chock is when you pull out after loading or unloading your boat, you dont have to get out and remove the chock, it will drag by the chain till you get to the prep area. I dont have one to take a pix of, but have used them in the oil patch. I would think all wreckers would carry a set if you want to see one, They weld a chain hook to the body behind the rear wheels to hook the chain on.

Good idea. I would rather wnat to see a guy taking it safe then a guy's truck rolling in the water on the ramp.
