Is this stuff worth the money? I would think yes but i figured i would ask first. Does it affect anything with the boat? And is there only one brand or is there a better or worse brand?

I have one on my boat and it certainly makes pulling your boat up to shore worry free. I think there are two different brands, I couldn't even tell you which one I have. I bet either one works just fine. I have had it on the boat for 4 years and it seems to be holding up just fine.

We have a guy down here (Texas Boat World) doing Keel-X it is Line-X that they put on there and you can have it done as thick as you want and as far as you want. It will neve come off like the others do. I love mine and I have used the others before and I promise you this is ten times better.

Great--How much does it run? I know that if Keelshield is done right--it will not come off--but I do say--RIGHT?

The Keelshield can be installed as a home project. It is a good product and will protect that area of the boat. I would install one verses not having one at all.
The Hambys is another option. It is thicker and will protect better but it is more expensive and needs to be put on by someone that knows what they are doing.
Im not sure on this but I do think Hambys did come out with a do it yourself guard also but I haven't seen one.

I've installed several keelshields and they are easy for anyone with some mechanical aptitude to install. The only thing I can tell you is this, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY!!! Oh, and if you have problems with your hands like joint pain or weakness dont try to install it in cold weather, it becomes very hard to bend.

capt.'s right about the hard to bend in cold weather, but you can use a heat gun or hair drier to soften them up . I have even use hair drier in warm weather, makes is much eaiser and........ FOLLOW the directions on what ever you do..
