great read, and I dont know the details of what happened in your life to cause a turn for worse, but I will say that It was around the same age, late 20s, that I woke one morning and just decided to lay it all on the line, and be my own boss, make my own life, and live n my own terms as much as I legally could. I had left the army and had several jobs where I was doing a great job.. I was doing a great job making the owners rich. Then I started working for Sears, as a HVAC. appliance tech. The pay was decent but they ran me ragged.. There was never enough work getting done, and they had a system of bean counting designed to make you look like you were a slackazz. I was drinking heavily, unhappy and im sure the wife was sick of my complaining. One morning, I consulted with the wife and we decided I was going to start my own thing, how I would do this, we werent sure, but we decided to do what it took to make it and find happiness. I called the manager and told him to vome get his raggedy truck from in front of my house. I QUIT. Well for 3 days they begged me to stay. I refused and told them I would not be part of a company that makde thier employees feel like losers, as Ive always been a winner. Ive always been in the top 10 percent of anything ive put my mind to. I was the guy everybody cheated off of in school. I was done with them. So after the " take this job and shove it " festivities were over, it was time to face the facts. I had a mortgage, 2 small kids, all the bills that everyone else has and not a penny in the bank. I did have one thing though, I had a great skill and a passion to do it. So what I idid I went to the local Goodwill resale as is lot, and bought a broken refrigerator for 10.00. It turned out to be out of freon and have a leak, so I fixed the leak, and was trying to figure out how to get some freon. I recalled that older vehicles used the same freon as refrigerators, so I did a transfusion from my dodge dakota, to the refrigerator. I sold that fridge for 150.00. I went buy 5 more. I fixed those, and a month later I was dropping a thousand dollars a week in my wifes lap, and loving life. I eventually got my state HVAC license. (I cried like a baby on the way home from austin when they told me I had passed), because I knew how much my life would change, and how much job security it meant. I ran a successful HVAC/APLLIANCE repair biz for almost 15 years, and made smart decisions along the way. God has blessed me in so many ways and showed me the path to freedom, love and happiness. Lane,, I encourage you, to make your own pot of gumbo, and ask God for the ingrediants. Its hard to lose a job if you created it, its hard to argue with the boss if your the boss,, its easy to take a day off if theres nobody to ask, its alot easier to go to work if your making all the money.. when you run your own biz you spend alot more time with the wife and kids. you dont have to be status quo, you can do things your way, all the time. Look at it this way,, if you were doing the job you love for someone else, theres no resaon you cannot do it for yourself. It would take a heck of a great pay and incenive package for me to ever work for anyone else.. theres just so many reasons to work for yourself. Keep on keepin on . things will get better.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Good read leanin post. It takes guts to quit a job and work for yourself. With guts and determination, it is certainly possible.

Hey Leanin Post, man that's an inspiring story! Thanks for sharing. And Laner, obviously you are a winner and a leader and you have been an inspiration to so many of us. Do what you love to the glory of God and your story will be amazing. I recommend a book by Max Laccado called Cure for the Common Life. It's a great read and a way to find your big thing. The book and God changed my life! Blessing to you and your family

Thanks for sharing your story, it was a great read! I want to thank Leanin Post for his two cents also! What a blessing for all of us on this forum! Testimonies like these are so uplifting, and like Treeshark said, if you do something like you're doing it for the Lord, you can't go wrong!
Bump what Crope1 and Moonriver said! G-Rods are awesome!
