What is about the average cost to get a replica mount done? I caught my PB last fall, weighed it, took a couple pictures and released her back into Lake Sardis. I was so excited I didn't even think about taking any measurements. I have some pictures where I can probably get a good idea of the length. I hear they can measure my arm and scale it that way to get a good idea as well.
Thanks!

Around $400. More if you want to add a bunch of habitat and baitfish.

There are formulas used to calculate the weight of LMB that are pretty darn accurate. WEIGHT = LENGTH x GIRTH2 / SHAPE FACTOR. The shape factor constant ranges from 800-1100, depending on the shape of your fish. Plug in the weight and a guesstimate for length or girth and you can solve for the remaining variable, it'll get you darn close.

If I remember right it was around $12-17 per inch of length last time I checked. It ranges due to girth. If you are outside of this range, you might look around more.

Thanks! A good taxidermist is an artist and if you have the weight and some good pics, they can figure out the rest. They can range anywhere from $250 to $600 just for the fish and maybe 1 piece of drift wood. If you start adding in other features the price obviously goes up. I've had 3 done from 2 different companies and one thing I can tell you is that a quality mount is going to be a good 4-10 month wait. If you have any other questions please feel free to send me a PM

Chris gave you some good info above.
It really isn't that critical that you have exact measurements of your fish to get a great replica. Any good taxidermist has done dozens if not hundreds of fish in the 10-12# range. Some fish are short & fat while others are longer & thinner. They can get fiberglass blanks for all fish body types. Show them a pic and tell them what it weighed. They can figure out the rest.

I caught my PB a few years ago at Fork 10.2. I measured and took pictures and had the brothers at Lake Fork Taxi. do a replica and the cost was $400 It still looks great and I would have them do another one.

Lake Fork Taxidermy is now Fish Replicas. I have had 2 done by them and they are both beautiful. 1 from Fork and 1 from Palestine both over 11 lbs. Seems like they were around $400. Call Charlene at Fish Replicas and she will be very helpful. Phone #903-765-9999. They will do any type mount you want. I have one standard open mouth with bait in mouth on driftwood. The other more of a habitat mount with a closed mouth looking at the bait.

Bissett,
Yes you can still get it done. I gave Bev's Creations @ Lake Fork pics, the length and a bait. She estimated girth. It turned out GREAT! All within the price range mentioned above.

Bev's work should be in the Smithsonian! Call around for prices of course, but Bev has the best work -- of course, IMHO. Way to go on the PB.

I think the guys doing the replicas are artist, some may be taxidermist, the replica is the way to go, last one i had done was 350, it was almost 11, Ron Kelly did it, really nice job.
