Just keep up with the water temps it shouldn't be long. For me the bite is slowing a little right after a cold front comes through.

Agreed, not long. End of April. 1st or 2nd week in May. The cats will tell you. Not all catfish in any river, creek, lake, or pond spawn at exactly the same time. Look for males with swollen heads, cuts & scrapes on fins and skin from fighting. Ripe females will have enlarged egg vents and be fat with eggs. Some will even be oozing eggs.

Not just yet.. Mother's Day at tawakoni (usually)
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I caught a few with eggs all the way to July last year. Early June last year seemed like almost every one had eggs. Lake Bonham mostly.
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Cleaned a batch. Yesterday. 2-4lb. All Females, with developing yellow-eggs. Came out of 10' water.

I'm a bass fisherman that wants to take the kids channel catfishing. What Area of a lake would I be looking for to catch some spawning channel cats?

^ very shallow... 5 feet and under. Cork with prepared bait (stubbys') works. Willows, flooded grass should hold fish

Just pitch a bobber with a 3ft leader and a dead shad against the dam rocks on just about any lake.... Good luck
