Im looking for the best model of dobyns for a frog rod. I thought the 744 didnt have enough back bone for a good hook set and the 745 didnt have a soft enough tip for walking. I was kind of curious if the 735 might be a better fit.

Yes The 745 does not feel at all like a 735. Just got 2 in today for frogs and swim jigs

You may want to look at the 784 or 804 C-rig rod it does a great job for setting the hook on a long cast from either frog or C-Rig

The Champion 735C is probably the most favored rod by many Dobyns rod users for frogs. It is definitely my favorite. I use a Pflueger Patriarch 7:9:1 reel with Gamma Torque Braided line and that combo pulls the bass out of some of the thickest cover. I do not think you would be disappointed in the Champion 735.

Yes, the 735 is exceptional for frogging! Either the Fury, Savvy, or Champion will work! Personally, I LOVE the colors of the fury lineup!

Actually the Champion 736 is the "perfect" frog rod for me. The 735 is a little light for my taste.

I use a Dobyns Savvy 736 and it works great for me. I have no problems walking a frog with it!

I agree with he 736, but the 735 will work, I just prefer more backbone to my frog rd. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

The 735 for me is an excellent frog rod, for some may not be tough enough but is a versitle rod also good for pitchin' and swimbaits.
When in doubt set the hook..Retie often
