I'm sure he had other plans for the day... Gets deep pretty quick there too... Glad no one was hurt.

Saw this happen on Gibbons Creek about 20 yrs. ago. Man left his truck running with his 2 small sons in the cab. While he was pulling up to the bank one of the boys must have put it in gear. It started down the ramp and started bobbing. I had just backed my boat off of the trailer when it happened. I put the bow of my boat against the back of the cab to hold it from going any deeper. Two men waded out to the cab to get the two boys out thru the windows. Another man pulled his truck up to the ramp- waded out with a chain and tied his truck to the truck in the water to keep it from going any deeper. About 30 minutes later a winch truck from the power plant came over and pulled the man's truck out. The sight of the two boys crying when the water started in the window of the truck has stuck with me over the years. Luckily it turned out okay.

Wow. That's scary and an amazing story. Glad the kids were ok and people were there to help. Sounds like quick thinking on a few people's part.

Crazy story. That why I always put my kids in the boat when unloading.

I almost did it once. With my jeep. When you press the brake pedal a little harder than normal, it goes into "hill start assist" mode and holds the brakes until the revs get over 1200 or so rpm. I had my jeep in drive the entire time I spent after backing in the trailer. It was running...and holding the brakes while I walked down the ramp, started the boat, looped out from the dock and stuck the boat. Then I hopped over to the dock and started back to the jeep. When I grabbed the door handle, I guess it got tired of waiting on me to go up the hill and released. I almost [censored] my pants! Lol. I was pretty quick about getting it going from that moment. Lol. Also, from that day on....4 years and 70k miles, I set the brake and put it in park. Still leave it running though.

I do the same. I put the boy on the dock in his life jacket. That's terrifying.

That's 2 at Fork in less than a month.
I never poke fun at someone when that happens.

Yep, I often fear that my transmission will pop out of park and the emergency break will fail. And this is the kind of luck I do have.

You can do a cpl things to prevent this if you are by yourself chop your wheels or either turn your wheels all the way to the tight or left. Sorry for this guys truck, I seen this happen first hand last yr at the skeeters owner tourny Sunday morning at the hwy 17 public ramp.

I think a lot of people just don't use their E brake for some reason, just engage the E brake before you go into park and normally will slide into drive much easier on your way back up.

That's a great idea!
