Just picked up a kvdc6101mhw combo from a young man trying to make money. Wanted to know if anyone has used this, and what to expect with future use and preventive maintenance (i.e.-key things to look for or give extra attention to)
It was a $40 investment and figured worth a shot as it seems to retail for about $130 when new.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Clean her up, take reel apart and lube, new line and it should be just fine for quite some time. Great deal for $40! Fish it till it gives up the ghost.

Any specific concerns or issues, or just in general from past experiences?

From the perspective of someone that takes apart and cleans, repairs, and re lube's lots of different reels. I can tell you that my opinion of Quantum is not great. All their stuff is made in China and it shows. Quality is sub par at best and they use extremely cheap plastic parts even in their higher end reels like the EXO. I'll never own another but I sure do enjoy fixing them when they break! Again I know people fish them, and like them and never have issues with them and that's all great but Ive seen enough of them that I will always pass. Just my .02

But in answer to your ? $40 for the combo is not bad at all. You can clean and re lube the reel if you want but honestly Id just fish it till it goes. unless you know how to take apart and service yourself I don't think it would be worth it to have it done at that price point.

Man, that's a great .02 given you repair reels. Back on one of my other posts I was hearing the same regarding quantum reels.
As I progress, I'll be focusing more on the better quality, but I'll get my $40 out of this for now. Thanks again for the input!
