My wife's ($#^$%&) Mustang A/C is very temperamental, the last few years it works perfectly some of the times, and suddenly it will just stop blowing any air. Sometimes it just goes out for a few seconds, other times, it goes out for up to 20 to 30 minutes. The weird thing is that if I put my hand on the vents, I can feel cold slowly flowing out of it. I took it to the dealer, and they said it needed a new compressor. So I got a new compressor (not from the dealer), but the issue was exactly the same after that. So I took it to someone else, and he messed with the relay. But that was not the issue. Then I changed the blower motor along with the resistor. So other than selling the darn car, not sure what else I need to look at.

Well it was certainly not the compressor, as it is not the air mover. Your blower motor and/or the switch is my guess. Intermittent equals moving part failing. Switch. Jiggle fan switch with fan running on high. See if you can reproduce the problem at will.

Is the clutch engaging as it should? If not, you more than likely have an air gap issue. If this is the case, I linked out a video.

I tried jiggling the switch and nothing. As a matter of fact I turned the car on, and there was nothing blowing for about 5 minutes. Then like magic, it worked again.

Actually, when it was not working, I tried turning off the AC and just having air blowing, and nothing. So I am thinking this may have nothing to do with the AC. I already replaced the fan motor and fan motor resistor, so what else could it be?

be sure the pigtail that plugs into the blower motor is not burnt and terminals fit tight.know it's something simple but seen it way to often.

My daughter's car did that years ago and I finally discovered her fuse panel under dash had loose fitting fuse retainer slots. When I wedged the ac fuse with a toothpick, problem went away! Sometimes hard to figure stuff like this out, good luck.

Could be a smart junction box fuse issues. Is it automatic or manual tempature controls? It almost sounds like a wiring issue since it is intermittent and works fine when it does work. Sounds like either a wire is shorting or maybe have a ground issue somewhere. Good luck!

Does Mustangs have blend doors for ac or heat diversion. Had a chevy, you would swear the ac quit and it was the doors opening and closing and diverting air who knows where. .

Could also be a short of some sort in the "ac control head" the panel that has all the switches and buttons for the a/c. If it were a blend door problem you usually hear "clicking" noises coming from the dash and will have issues with it blowing out of places its not supposed to. Can't believe the dealer couldn't find and fix the problem for you though. Very strange.
