Guys...I need some help.
I have 5 rods and 4 reels (shopping for a new real for the last rod depending on responses)
I am trying to figure out which rods fit which reels for an all around 5 fold arsenal.
I fish Grapevine 90% of the time and Fork on occasion. I fish for Large mouth almost exclusively. (I have a sand bass/catfish rig that is not a part of this post)
So I need you pro's to help me put the right stuff together. Feel free to explain why you choose which combinations and what lure would be recommended . (for my education)
Until this point I have just grabbed a rod that looked good and had good reviews...(same with reels)
Rods:
1. BPS Johnny Morris Carbon lite 7'(combo- reel below) 2. Shimano Sellus 7"2 Worm/Jig 3. Abu Veritas 1.0 6"6 Medium Heavy 4. Fenwick HMXT 7" Medium Heavy 5. Abu Veritas 2.0 6"9 Medium Heavy
Reels:
A. Johnny Morris 5:4:1 B. BPS Extreme 7:1:1 C. BPS Pro Qual 5:2:1 D. Pro Qual 6:3:1
So you all know my current combo set up is ...
1A 2B 3C 4D 5(has no reel- Debating on another Pro qual)
Thanks in advance

5c - Spinnerbaits and bigger cranks 1a - what action? Maybe light t-rig or weightless 3d/new - top waters, jerk baits 2b - agree with RK (heavier trig, light crig, jigs) 4d/new - similar speed - buzz bait, traps, smaller cranks

I believe that you need a cranking rod and that will come in handy on Grapevine. The cranking rods are typically not med/heavy. You can use your BPS ProQual(5.2:1) for your cranking reel as it is the slowest retrieve you own. It doesn't have to be an expensive rod, but you will most likely need a new rod for that. Try and get a fast tip to throw that crank as far as you can.
you know, nothing wrong with seven men who met on the internet going for a swim together
