I have found two local ponds that stocked trout today, and plan on trying to catch some tommorow afternoon !! I havent done much trout fishing, so what type of set up, and lures should I use ?? I had planned on using my ultra light crappie rigs, and some Roostertails !! Anyone have any suggestions ?? Thanks, Brandon.

that would work. Powerbait designed for trout on a small hook with a split shot above it works the best. Chartreuse is the best color.

I fish for trout every year and live in GP. I use super dupers, mepps spinners, trout worms, trout dough, you name it. you just have to try different things. Even corn and marshmallow are good.

I've caught a lot of trout with spinners...my best is the Panther Martin black w/ yellow spots. This has all been in CO and NM however. You can use worm or even eggs if you want. Spinners have worked the best for me though and I like continuing to reel in instead of sitting and waiting. good luck!

hey I'm going fishing for trout this weekend in Mckinney. I fished for trout in allen last month, havong the best lucck with velveeta cheese. A very small treble hook works best with this as the velveeta comes off of a single hook easily. Also try bread and shrimp. power bait is ok but is no match for velveeta. if they are biting on lures that day try a super duper.

The other day I was out and was the only one catching fish. I was using prepared crappie nibbles and a marshmallow on a 4 inch leader above a carolina rig.
Here is what I thought was important... Some sort of tasty bait for the trout Marshmallow to get it to float off the bottom Very short leader to keep it down by the trout Carolina rig lets the fish go free line

Besides all the other items already mentioned....this works quite well...
Clear bubble float about 4 ft up from the small hook. Fill the bubble about half full of water. Lets the bait float naturally. Works pretty good and I've fished flies this way off of spinning reels. Put a snap swivel just after the float and used a 4 ft leader.
Good Luck

1/8 oz or 1/16 oz Rooster Tails or Panther Martins work well. So does Berkley Power Bait on a small hook, with a split shot above, and then a bobber. So does canned corn. Mash the barbs down on the hooks, it makes life easier. A pair of hemostats or fine needle-nose pliers are also helpful.

Is It The Big Block In The Yellow Box ?
