I havent catfished for a while. Never on lake conroe either. Could any experienced guys give me some tips on where to be looking for them right now? How deep? Shad?

I was catching them Friday and Saturday in 15 to 20 feet of water. mostly fishing the creek channels. hopefully by next weekend they will be moving to the bulkheads.

There isn't a whole bunch of guys that fish Conroe that post on this forum...at least not in the catfish section. There are a lot of nice fish there. I remember one guy that liked to drift fish a lot used to pull a lot of nice fish out on Conroe.

Not a guy but me my husband and grandson fished lake conroe the week of spring break,3-15,16,17,18 and did well on bottle lines baited with deer liver and cheap weenies..when their biteing they will hit most anything.. should be getting better and better as they move into shallow water to spawn.Had fish fry first nite and brought plenty home for the freezer.
