5 pin flat. Hook the reverse wire up to reverse lights. Problem solved.

Tow haul does not mean 7 way, it simply changes how your transmission works when your towing. (To keep it simple). I've not seen many boat trailers out there with a 7 way unless they weigh more than 3500 pounds. Generally for a boat trailer you just need a 5 flat. The 5th wire is connected to the reverse lights on the tow vehicle to release the brakes on the boat trailer when backing up.
Either way take it to your local Uhaul and they can wire you up properly for way less than most others. Good luck.

Thanks guys, I picked up my new Skeeter today, all my efforts were not enough to get my problem taken care of. All lights worked properly except the no reverse light or signal to at the receptacle to activate the solenoid to release the brakes in reverse, . I visited two Toyota service centers with no luck, checked all fuses and relays. It looks like my Tundra (sport package) is missing relays and wiring for the required relays that all the other Tundra's we looked at had.
Now, at this point, could I simply locate the reverse light wire from the tail light assembly and jump that to the center pin wire feeding the 7 pin round receptacle? (the center pin is the terminal for the reverse lights). Now energizing that pin in reverse would activate the brake release solenoid. Correct? Do you think that it would blow that reverse light fuse? Going to try this in the morning.
Thanks for all your help!!

Does the trailer have a 7 pin or flat 5?

All of the surge type boat trailers I have ever seen has a device located on the hydraulics unit at the front of the trailer, that you can turn with your hands to back up with out any electrical connections at all. This allows your trailer to be backed up with any truck or vehicle, with or without trailer connection. Problem is that most of us are to lazy to get out and turn the lever when we get to the ramp.

My last three Chevys had the deluxe tow package, so they came with round RV 7 pin connectors. I have utility trailers with electric brakes that have the need for round 7 pin connectors due to the electric brakes. I bought a molded "7 round to 5 flat" converter plug. It locks right into the truck connector & provides a 5 pin flat that all my boats have been compatible with. I didn't have to rewire anything. That converter is a molded chunk of black plastic with the wire-swap inside. I got mine at Wally World for about $15.
One of the vehicles came with a similar converter plug for 7-round to standard 4 wire flat. So, with my vehicles since 2002 I've been able to tow all the boats, small utility and large utility trailers that I've owned, and a few things belonging to friends. I consider a 7 pin connector on the vehicle to be the way to go because it's ready for just about anything if you keep a couple of simple molded converters handy. I've never had to rewire or jury-rig anything for trailer wiring with this system.

You can use the reverse light. I have the same tundra, had to do the same thing. I bought a unit that had both the 5 and 7 pin and made a little adapter that went between the OE 4 pin and the new receptacle. I just didn't populate the other two pins as I don't need them.

Thanks for all your help!! time to get on the Tundra forum and do a search. Either that or just pull the tail light assembly.

Problem solved, I spliced into the reverse light wire to energize the trailer brake solenoid. Thanks for the help!
