There has been a big gator in Double Oak cove in Birch creek. That big sucker was 11+ foot, we haven't seen it this year at all.. There was some 5 and 6 footers in there two, hadn't seen them either.. I had some pictures, I'll see if I can find them.. I hope it wasn't harvested..

Good riddance if it was. That thing could eat someone's dog or child.

The gator population sure has expanded the last few years. They seem to be everywhere now. Next thing you know we will be seeing them in Ray Roberts if they are not already there. When my brother had his place on Fork it got to where the kids couldn't go swimming off of his dock. Something about fish cleaning and free meals in that cove brought in some big ones that weren't skeerd of people.
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Good riddance if it was. That thing could eat someone's dog or child. It takes a long time for a critter to grow that large, it was the biggest I've seen in Texas. We don't have the large populations like Florida, and they seem to deal with it. I don't see them as a menus, my neighbor claims we had a couple mating around our docks last year. He said, it was a big one and a smaller one going at it.. I have little dogs and grand children, I'm not worried about their safety. We can see all around and nobody swims in our cove.. I think their a wonder of nature, I like to see them.. But that's just me, I know everyone won't share that opinion, and that's OK...

If you truly have Gators swim to the docks, some D.B.'s has been feeding them or throwing the leftovers out in the water. That Gator now sees humans as a food source, are you starting to get the idea? Females as in most species are the most aggressive. All of these Gators will have to be Trapped, Moved or Destroyed all because of some real stupid people. We have this go on in Florida with the snowbirds and they are just now starting to enforce a law that has some teeth in it. I cannot wait for the next tourist season, as I understand the daily bag limit has increased. Dan

I haven't seen any around our dock, and agreed really don't want to. I'm good with them being in a secluded area where they have lots of turtles and the like to eat... There used to a lot of nutria's in that cove they fed on, the nutria's are pretty much gone, might also be why I haven't seen them in awhile...I know there are some up little caney and coffee creek.
