The water temps are starting to rise and so are some of the bass. It has been a colder than normal winter which had pushed most of the bass deeper than most people wanted to fish. It wasn't tough people weren't fishing where they were. The grass really laid down due to the cold temps and there wasn't enough cover in that 20 to 25 feet to keep the bait or bass. It took me a few days to figure out most of the fish were out in 30 to 50 feet holding off ledges and old hard woods. There were fish in a few normal winter areas stacked up but it was hit or miss.
Now things are back the way it should be. Plenty of staging fish 12 to 18 in the center of drains. Also pre spawn fish out on main lake flats 25 to 28 feet around the outside edge of whats left of the grass and bushes.
Suspending jerk baits and cranks also dead sticking senkos the 7" has been killer fish these bait in the drains or creek channels. The deeper main lake flats I have been fishing a 3/16th Tx. rigged 7" senko or a 1oz or 1 1/4oz spinner tandem gold willow chart/white.
It won't be long and we will be looking at them!!

I am booked up until mid May, so If you want to get in on some of the early Summer top water fishing you might give me a call before I fill.
Thanks,
Ray Hanselman

Thank you for posting a report. Information is hard to come by this time of year.

Thanks for the report Ray. Will be there end of next week, and was hoping the fish were beginning to wake up from the cold. You're reports are always very informative and reliable. Thanks again.
