Is Cobra really making a comeback? See website below; seems like a fan page more than anything to me. I own one and really enjoy it. http://www.iwantacobraboat.com/

I just sent a message to them. Supposedly he bought the rights to the Cobra name for the 201 and 216 hulls as well as the molds for them. We'll see. Also trying to bring back the Coral fish n' ski using the 201 hull.

Don't know much about them, but I heard it was a Story design. Have a 190 with a 200 Merc.

I heard back from them. Won't give me a price on a boat or hull even. They are working directly with dealers in order for the end buyer to have a place to take the boat for service. I requested one with a Yamaha so they asked for local dealers that dealt Yamaha (is there any that don't)? They did tell me they are offering a 5 year warranty on their boats. I'm kinda curious how this will play out. I gave them the info for both Fun n Sun and North Texas Marine with the caveat that I'm not sure either would pick up a new line or even be willing to sell a custom boat to me when it is in direct competition to Fun n Sun's other mainstay boats. NTx Marine doesn't even deal fishing boats other than bay boats so we'll see.

It will be very interesting to see who the dealers will be. I noticed on their Facebook page that they've been working on this since 2011. Sounds like they are still a good ways out.

Makes me wonder if they've even built a boat then.

5 yrs and they're still working out the bugs, color me skeptical. Could happen but just like the rumor that charger is going to bring back champion boats I will believe it when I see it.

I actually talked to someone with them today. They have only built one boat and just recently started testing it. There is video on FB of their testing. Ice still on water so it's not an extensive test. They are building a second boat as I type this. Boats are truly a custom build, no dealers are carrying them as of yet and most likely won't. They are trying to get a network of dealers that will rig them out with motor of choice so the buyer will have support locally. The closest for me to get one with a Yammy on it is in OK at this point. I asked about the possibility of ordering a hull only and leaving the motor and rigging to me to set up with a shop of my choice. They are considering that. The hull has only been modified for strength and is built with Coosa composites. It is the true mold of the original Cobra 216. The deck has been redesigned somewhat. I'd have to look at the pics of a new one and late model 216 to see any differences. I asked about options and pretty much if we ask they can install it or leave it to dealer to do. I'm still highly interested in this but really not sure if it will ever get very far off the ground. If they have some good success stress testing the first one I might jump into one at the right price. Just kinda waiting to see how goes it.

They have the rights to the Cobra name. They have the Cobra name but it is not the same boat. Don't really like how they changed the consoles and deck layout. Too bad the Cobra went out of business they were nice boats great fit and finish.
