oh and almost forgot whatever you decide, go with 2 if it's in the budget - the first time you are in some real wind and need them you will be happy you did

I have power poles, my son has 12' talons, both are great, talons are almost twice as heavy as power poles. not sure on older models but when I recently ran specs the new 12 ft Talons were not much heavier than 10 foot PP's Really? 12 foot Talon 47.5 lbs Bracket 20.4 lbs = 67.9 lbs 10 foot Blade 27.7 lbs Bracket 8.0 = 35.7 lbs.

I have a single 8' talon and I really like it and it works great but it is loud and doesn't look as good as the PP but the installation was a breeze and for my little boat it's perfect

I like the look of the 8' pp but can't stand the looks of the 10' pp

Notice you don't hear to many people talking about the customer service with the talons. Never had a problem with the talons. And if I did, I can remove and replace them in a few minutes. Don't get me wrong though I'm sure I could be just as happy with power poles also.

How do you get a good fish around the back of the boats with pole? They deploy like a praying mantis!

You're going to add some weight for the motor and hydraulic fluid with PPs. Not going to make up the 60lb difference but it'll be half of it. No one has mentioned - 12' Talons can be used in a lot more water than 10' PPs.

I have both on 2 different boats. Pros and Cons to both. As has already been said Talons are not as quite as the power poles. I also think the power poles hold better in a strong crosswind. The Talons are much easier to install tho. No hydraulics to mount. I would certainly get 2 if funds are available. If you buy one you will be going back to buy the other one. Most people figure out real fast how handy they are for docking and beaching to go park the truck.

Five years on my first set of Power Poles and only a small issue of replacing a nut that came loose. Customer service sent me a complete bushing kit with the nut! How cool is that. Haven't had to replace the bushings tho and use the PP's every trip. I use them in deeper trees and grass in addition to shallow anchoring. Also have the drift paddles and they can really be a help in strong winds. And did I mention the customer service? 'spoon
