I'm sure this has been discussed before but I can't seem to find it.

I'm considering installing either Power Poles or Talons.
What are the Pros/Cons?
Which would you prefer?
Would you install one or two?

PP requires hydraulic pump motor installation as well. Talons are all electrical. Other than that, 6 in one, half dozen in the other...

I have power poles and I am partial.. Never owned a Talon and never will. Customer Service is by far the BEST in the business at Powerpole.. For that reason, I will never own a Talon....

If you're installing yourself, I would suggest Talons. Mount the brackets, run the wire and you're done.

Performance wise, I think they both service the purpose well.

I've had a single Talon and now I've got two Talons. A single Talon is better than nothing at all, but having two does so much more for you. A single doesn't hold as well in the wind and the front end spins with it down (if there's any wind). You put both Talons down and you're there. I have two 10ft Power Pole Blades and they are great! I can't imagine going back to anything else.

I have had both and currently have the pp blades....wished I had the Talons again!

My last boat was used and had 8' power poles. At first I did not think that I would use them much since I'm not a big sight fisherman but I quickly learned that they are useful for many other applications. When I purchased a new boat I had 10' blades installed and I use them every trip. I don't know how I ever got by without them.
I have been in a boat with talons and I didn't like them as well, the power poles are much quieter and in my opinion look better.
I've heard great things about the customer service at PP but I have never had a problem so I wouldn't know firsthand.

I've had both. PP takes more time to install. Talon is quick and simple.

On the water, the Talon is great, but seems to be make a little more noise than the PP. Customer service is excellent for both brands. Find one that fits in your budget and enjoy! Have no clue how I fished without one.

I'm just the opposite,love my Talons. Current boat had 2 Power Poles and after 1 trip I went with 1 12 foot Talon.

just installed 12 ft Talons on my boat and love them - buddies boat has 10ft power poles and they work great too - we had a lot of trouble deciding what to go with but in the end decided on the Talons to get the extra 2 ft of depth

Talon Pros:
1.) Talon 12 footers are shorter than 10 foot pp's when up
2.) as mentioned all electric = less to go wrong (theoretically)
3.) 12ft vs 10 ft anchoring depth
4.) slightly lower price point

Talon cons:
1.) although shorter profile when up the Talon housing does not go down into water when deployed like pp's
2.) Talons will break if you take off and forget to bring them up - they have an alarm you can wire into ignition but pp's supposedly actually flex out if you forget to bring them up
3.) slightly bulkier profile on Talons vs pp's although I actually prefer the "look" of Talons as they are closer to height of the engine (totally personal preference thing here as I just think 10ft power poles stick up really high)

How many talons do you see on the water vs how many power poles? that should give you an idea of which is more sought after. Talons are few and far between even though they cost less. Plus I have never seen better customer support than with Power Pole! I have used both but I will never have anything but Power Poles!

I have power poles, my son has 12' talons, both are great, talons are almost twice as heavy as power poles.

Both work great. Talons look like chit.

not sure on older models but when I recently ran specs the new 12 ft Talons were not much heavier than 10 foot PP's
