I was on tawakoni this week and the screen started flickering on and off while running across the lake. It acted like it was loosing power like a bad connection. I just recently swapped it on this boat so i knew it was wired good. It eventually cut off and when i got to my next spot i tried to turn it on and the screen would just light up but had no picture at all. I knew the unit was on cause when i pressed the buttons it would beep and my structure scan box was also on. After calling tech support they informed me the screen was more than likely bad and i could send it in to have it repaired or up grade to somehing else
How common is this issue and have any of yall ever had to go through this to have it sent it and fixed?
I know my power supply is good cause my hds 5 gen 1 works fine on the same power cable

I'd do a soft reset first. If you don't know how, read the manual or Google it. A soft reset helped this wkend on a unit I was helping a friend with. Another option is to switch the units to see if is power related, whether you think it is or not. I also have Gen 1 and after a while, it just seems to have strange things occur. A soft reset seems to fix things. I think over time, the internal memory gets loopy much like computers do.

Tough call, $1500 for a brand new gen2 12 with a 2 year warranty or $1,000 for a gen2 12 that has a 6 month warranty.
