Well I went and checked out my last undiscovered metromess run. As usual it was devoid of human activity managed a few males but nothing really big and ran into a goo. Nice to be the only one on the river during the run. Going back to one of my favorites tomorrow.

Also beat my four wt record today with a far that was almost as long as me and big around as a basketball. I followed the beast half a mile down the river gaining and loosing line. As I finally wore the fish down found a little shelf with 3" of water and guided it in. A guy nearby in a boat offered to shoot it with his bow but told him wanted to let it go he loaned me pliers to get the hook out it was right in the corner protecting the line from the teeth. A got my rod and the fish in both hands up against my chest and was going to walk back up to my gear for a pic. Then it got its second wind started thrashing and almost kicked my butt lol landed in the water and took off

Gar not far I had no idea long nose got that big till I saw the record is 50 I think it would have fell a little short but would have given it a run for its money. I had no clue the bill on a 3 footer is same length as one that's 5 and a half it just gets a little wider. I just figured if I ever saw one as big as the one I held today it would have a three foot snout

Great story dude! My buddies and I wondered if you'd get into any as it seemed like they shut down for the day. Shoulda figured not for you. Too bad that gar battle was not recorded. We did fairly well for not knowing this body of water. I had 47 sandys and some big males but no females.

Was good to see y'all again glad y'all got on some fish when we talked the other day I should've told you when you think you gone far enough keep going. You know I realized I had forgotten my go Pro about halfway in and almost turned around and and didn't I normally just use it for still shots during sandbass but I wear it on the chesty just in case something interesting happens to video I want to slap myself for not going back now. And didn't I normally just use it for still shots but I wear it on the chesty just in case something interesting happens to video I want to slap myself for not going back now just keep in mind there's more water everywhere then there normally is you normally don't need to prepare for a marathon. Will have to get a day we can get together and hit them local chatterbait

I'm one of them! lol good luck if more people would do that wouldn't be people asking for spots though. That's the way to find good ones Zach. boats will get farther than normal but I have private access. Would be a several mile swim or paddle from first public crossing this year even further on a normal year. Formula462 and I figured out the cooler water and front slowed them down bit. Wasn't the slaughter like the last few days but steady. We both hooked into a big fish that wanted nothing to do with coming in. Been a weird last few days with massive random fish hitting. Mine straitened the hook a little bit and formulas just wasn't having any direction he wanted to give it he was using light tippet fish finally broke free. Was a little chilly wet wading today with the clouds wind and cooler water temps. But we got into enough fish that you couldn't complain another great day on the water. Formula fighting lock ness monster

Well today started out on an absolutely beautiful piece of river nice Clearwater could see the fish but evidently the fish didn't get the memo to bite. Did not take long to change directions and head off to some dirtier water. Creek number two today was devoid of human activity much like it normally is. Nice when you and a couple of buddies can go out and have the river to yourself. Getting off the beaten path makes a big difference. At stop number two we made our way down and found a natty the water is about the color of chocolate milk on the fly from the hook keeper dropped it in the water and started stripping line out to cast and it got smacked right at my feet. About the first 25 minutes we just tore them up almost every cast hooking into a fish and then it was like somebody rang the bell and they just shut off. Oh well it was a fantastic day on the water did not have to fight with any crowds or combat fishingand we still managed to catch some fish.
