A buddy and I tried it for a little while on Friday afternoon. No luck. We got to thinking about where the fish come from. I'm guessing that the water isn't running year round but there's probably a fair amount that stays in the 'pond' created by the spillway. Do the striper & hybrids come over the spillway each time it goes over or do they live in the 'pond' pretty much year round?

Wife and i drove by this afternoon. 11 total cars, people need to learn to clean up after themselves.
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

It was elbow to elbow before I posted, lol. The guys we were fishing by were all pretty cool and we would take turns casting to throw to the good spots. There were a few crossed and tangled lines but everyone was cool about it, we just wanted to catch some fish.
Its run its course now and the fishing is back to normal. Maybe it will flood again next year and the fun will be back on for a few days.
As for where the fish come from, you could sit and watch the spillway and watch fish after fish come over and down. It was pretty cool to see and some of them were quite large. My daughter got a kick out of it.
As for busting a secret, please, that place is packed everytime it floods, its not a secret. Ive also seen posts about it over the years on here. There just wasnt a post yet this time which is why I posted. I dont have a problem sharing info so others can have some fun and catch some fish. Only exception is if its a spot that someone else tells me about or shows me then I would not share it unless they said it was ok.
Fishing is supposed to be fun!

I plan on going out there one day this week with my grabber and trashbag and pick up trash for a little while. I didnt leave any of it but sure would hate to have the place shut down because of those who do.
