Caught this guy earlier while fishing for channel cats on the Sabine River at Lakeport, 4.05 pounds, 20.5" in length, hit a golf-ball sized chunk of chicken liver.  
I'm just in search of a way of not coming home smelling like the devils armpit.....

I thought so as well at first, but after I got it home I noticed it had two distinct tooth patches, so I wasn't sure what to call it.
I'm just in search of a way of not coming home smelling like the devils armpit.....

Hybrid, more than one lines go all the way to tail, gill cover has two points, white bass has only one point.
Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

You are right about the gill cover though, didn't even think about it at the time.
