Well there was a lot of boats in Penson over the 3-1/2 days I was there. Pretty normal for this time of year, I saw lots of fishing not much catching... One week ago today, it was on, the fish pulled up and the bite was real good. Then the rains came, it changed things in my area. Looks like a very cold start ahead for this Sunday. Good luck to everyone, 20k every hour is bunch of money.. $$$$$$$

I tried Saturday without any luck. The way the weather looks coming up before and including Sunday, it doesn't look very promising.

With the cold weather, I don't think it will be as big of a slug fest as I hope, but I love the timing of it. Sets up for some big girls to be caught. I plan on throwing everything at them, as I don't have a pattern yet.

I thought the rains helped the fishing. Looks like it will be great this weekend in my opinion

Just don't think catching spawning females off their bed, then the stress of weigh in and then returning them possibly miles from their bed and normal habitat would be good. But the money always rules.

Commons tells me that it's got to affect it to a degree. However, I'll be out there setting hooks

Saturday we fished from 2-5:30 and caught 34. Sunday the wind direction changed and it was howling and the bite was off.

I think that the state should add a line item tax to tournaments for using the state of Texas' resources to make money.

Bed fishing & probable catch&release. Not bed fishing + hauling her to weigh-in. Better seine all the bluegill, carp and other critters that raid those nests. They do far more damage than fishermen. True, but haul her to weigh-in & away from that nest doesn't help either. Commons tells me that it's got to affect it to a degree. However, I'll be out there setting hooks I'll probably be out there too, just not in the tournament. Common sense just tells me there is a difference between catch&release and catch&removal for spawning females. Sorry all, I was off-topic. So I'm done here. Good luck to all & have a safe day. . .

I caught a 10lber on a bed in a tournament in 2014 on Toledo. She rode around in a properly aerated live well all day. She was weighed and tagged for release. She was caught a couple days ago 5 miles from where I did and weighed the exact same.
Proper care is crucial
