Went Saturday. It was the only place I thought wouldn't be totally blown out. Expected water to be more off color than the last two times I went in November and December. It was actually a lot cleaner, even after all this recent rain. Didn't really get them dialed in until I switched to smallish baits. Biggest fish came on 3 inch lures, smallest fish came on 6 inch baits. Go figure. This year's been like that though. Probably caught 20 maybe. Lots of smaller fish but some quality mixed in. That stretch is definitely on the rebound. Then today after finishing some honeydos I realized I had earned some more fishing time. I think it helped that the wife was at the cinderella ballet with my daughter and couldn't protest the decision. Anyhow, hit an "urban" lake not too far from me. Loaded up so hastily I left the hawg trough in the commander I had used for the Brazos. Even left my paddle, but I was in the slayer propel so it wasn't that big a deal. Windy as hell, but I found some isolated brush piles and there were fish on them mostly 14 inches or less. Then, because I dont have a HT or a scale, a good one bites my jig. Definitely wasn't expecting a fish like this. I'm estimating 22-23 inches and 6.5-7.5 pounds maybe. Anyhow, wind was howling, phone screen was wet which meant it took me longer than i like to get the pic so I was in a hurry to release her. No weight or measurements, but a pretty good one nonetheless. Better to have caught and not weighed or measured than never to have caught at all, I guess. I'm sticking with that.

How was the flow below PK? Brazos River Authority has shown it to be at about 190 cfs for a few days now, but I am not that familiar with what sort of flow that creates. Considering doing a trip later this week (weather permitting).
Thanks

Below 200 is very tame. I paddled down and back like always and coming back against the current was pretty easy. If you're going down to Rochelle's you'll do a decent amount of paddling if you hit a headwind but at 190 it'll be a good lazy pace.

How is the parking at the 16 bridge these days? I havent been down that way in years. We were planning on doing the trip to Rochelle's, but the weather later in the week is looking iffy, so maybe just a short down and back overnight trip might be better, but not so confident in leaving a vehicle overnight at the bridge since Rochelles said they could not pick us up at 16 (if we left our vehicle at their place).

I've never done the overnight with a vehicle so I won't comment. I'd leave my truck there but it's a POS. I might think twice with a really nice vehicle. I'd say there's room for at least 10-12 vehicles.
Water was pretty clear at the bridge but got a little less so downriver. Watermelon Red was working for me.

Wow really nice, Tom.
I have left my car there on several occasions without any issues. On the weekends, there will typically be a few people there.

So you were able to paddle back against that first stretch right after all that new rip rap they put in on the the east side of river about 1/2 mile down form the ramp? I've never been able to paddle that back up (I'm talking about that 1/4 mile stretch right before the first bend) to the east

@clark 3, ot depends on the release. You can usually paddle at least most of it.

Was there on Thursday. At 190cfs, guys were paddling upstream solo in a canoe. So kayaks are a cinch. Lots of paddling if your doing the 20 miles with that flow though. I prefer a little more.
