For those who say it can't be done. Towed my camper and boat over 400 miles at 65 mph without any sway. Total length is 81.5'.

I don't think anyone means it can't be done literally...legally?... I believe in the state of TX it is illegal. You can tandem pull, but I believe, according to the law, the trailer attached to the tow vehicle has to be a fifth wheel or gooseneck.
I may be wrong.

Like Ambassador, I believe it is against Texas law to tow doubles with both being bumper pull. I know that it is against state law to tow doubles at a length exceeding 65 feet (your 16.5' over).
Be glad you didn't see any cops, I would consider myself lucky and never do it again unless your towing hay trailers 1/2 a mile down some FM road etc.

The legal limit is 65' in Texas in any combination. Two bumper pulls or fifth wheel and a bumper pull. In fact, the literature that shows the restrictions has a bumper pull camper with a boat behind it. I passed two highway patrols and a sheriff drove by me in a parking lot. Nothing was said.

That doesn't really matter, just know you are breaking the law. If your insurance knew im sure your coverage would go away.

Redchevy, you are right. I am breaking the legal length law. That is a risk I am taking. As far as insurance goes, they said I'm still covered.

Knowing that you are taking the risk, do you know the consequence? If you get an officer who decides to stop you, they can , and will (I have seen it), make you disconnect the boat right there on the highway??? Definitely not worth leaving my $40,000 boat on the highway.

Im a skeptic of your conversation with your insurance. I bet if all the T's were crossed and I's dotted no matter what they said in the end if you have issues with it I wouldn't count on them coming through for your.
While I may feel just fine safety wise to do it. I would never let my vacation ride on the chance of the ticket and having to leave something somewhere. Irresponsibility at its best. Hope you don't kill yourself and mainly nobody else. Be smart.

My son and I pulled a enclosed motorcycle trailer with a 45' motor home and got pulled over for being over the length limit. The LEO made us pull into a roadside park and drop the trailer right there.

Yet, I know of insurance covering people that broke all of those laws. Insurance coverage doesn't end when you break a law. As a matter of fact, the VAST majority of accidents happen BECAUSE someone did something illegal. If insurance could bail, no one would lend you money to buy vehicles.

If you get in an accident you will be at fault and sued. Its not just breaking legal length its towing more than your GVWR and Combined. This goes down to rated hitch weight and pin weight if a fifthwheel or gooseneck.
Heres my question what is your tow vehicle? I cant tell you how many times I see some dude that thinks because he owns a diesel he tow and haul anything.
Case in point. A short bed one ton truck doesnt have the same towing capacity as a long bed one ton. Nor does a Srw to a Drw.
Your not just taking a financial risk but also risking lives.

You wont get any hate from me... Just be as smart as you can given what you are doing... I can double tow my rig at 70 MPH with no issues, but I have an F250 and the camper is a 3500lb pop up and the boat might weigh 1200 lbs... I am also under the limit for length.
That being said, use discretion when it is really windy and stay well behind any vehicles in front of you and look WAY out ahead...
Id also recommend you get on an empty stretch of road and work your way up to a max effort break application looking for any bad tendencies... if you have any, really reconsider what you are doing... if the rig gets squirly when you fully mash the pedal, its only a matter of time before some idiot forces you to brake and you lose control.

I pulled double 28 ft. trailers for a living for 32 years. I would not even think about pulling a travel trailer and a boat. It's not a matter of if you get in trouble it's when. If you have to make a quick stop you are in trouble. You look at your phone and ease off the shoulder by mistake you'll flip the boat or both of them. Like it was said before be prepared to leave your boat sitting on the side of the road and pay a hefty fine if LEO catches you. They don't like people breaking their DOT rules. You got away with it once. Don't press your luck. Sometimes just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it. Good Luck
