 Trim gauge not working...

How can you diagnose which of the two is not working? The trim sensor or the trim gauge? I'd hate to buy the gauge and it be the sensor or vice versa. Looking forward to your advice.

Mine had a little plastic tab under the front of the motor that was broken. Very common.
