The first time I met him was at Robertson park, before it closed down. I wasn't catching, it was the first time for me there. There were some dyed red shad in a bag laying on the rocks. I picked them up, and asked KFJ, who I didn't even know who the hell he was yet, if they would catch, he nodded yes. 20 minutes or less later, I had a very heavy small mouth buffalo. Jimmy said it was 50lbs, lol, it broke the guy next to us's net, aluminum. I ended up giving him the fish since I broke his net. Be cool like Jimmy.
Doug, camo hat with velcro patches, ugly stik gear bag.

That should be our new slogan. He's well deserving of it, even of those who haven't had the privilege of meeting him yet!

Do the fish make it all the way to George bush or even passed that? Or do they only make it as far as fire wheel? fish go way past firewheel and if it rains they can get past bush. Sandies do not need much water depth to move upstream, and alot of those Rapids can become 2-3' of rushing water even with an inch of rain. Sandbass are a powerful fish designed to fight current and can move upstream through some very heavy amounts of current if it's deep enough, however, they don't usually make it very far past bush.

It's fun to watch them swim up two inches of water on their side

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

I can confirm that Jimmy is a high quality individual with kindness, friendliness, willing to help, honesty and true to his word being just a small few of his qualities. I had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy a couple of years ago while fishing RC between NT9 and NT12. He taught me some things then and has taught me something every time my buddy kingfisher17 and I have met up with him. We are both from Louisiana(along with Mr. Dang) and often talk about home when we fish. My son also has had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy and is learning from him. Jimmy is now on his second generation of students...lol. If you are ever graced with fishing with him or just meeting him, the pleasure and benefit will truly be yours. Thanks for everything Jimmy and we'll get back at it after all this rain is gone. Tight lines and be safe everyone!!!! ![flehan flehan](/forums/images/graemlins/default/flehan.gif)

Very nice, Nitro! I was around there somewhere, not quite sure where because after not catching anything we started spot jumping. Thanks MrNovice....I checked out two spots and found at the second stop.

We use to catch sandies all they way up to the temporary dam they installed before building George Bush. The last couple of years the water level has been to low for the sandies to make it up that far. Know the creek has plenty of water so the sandies will make it as far as the water level will allow them. Reggie

I took my oldest with me on Saturday. We did not find any white bass or hybrid, but we did find this guy right before we had to leave. Not sure who was more excited, my son who caught it or me. ![](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/usergals/2016/03/full-9314-101726-dono_pic.jpg)

Let the flooding begin. I'm sure it'll do that and much more. It's going to be a freaking mess down there.

When I have my kids with me, I always let them reel any catch in. I love that look of wow and wonder in their eyes. Priceless, you can't teach that.

I am sure it will. I am just looking forward to about a week from now with new schools of sand bass moving upstream and everything starting to settle down enough to fish. It should really start to turn on next week. Highs in the mid to low 80's. Now if we could just get some cloud cover to go with that heat.

You could try fishing at night, or late evening or very early morning. Got there at 5:30 this morning and they were biting in complete darkness. Was casting by way of spot light.
