Yamaha 250 with a skeg that has a two inch crack and bent 1\2 inch off line, Thinking about a Skeg guard, but should I try to bend it back inline or cut the cracked piece off first? Any ideas ?? Thanks

Don't bend aluminum, it will break. You can have yours welded or cut off damaged piece if small.

There is no "safe" fix. Replace the case. If this was a smaller motor, no problem, but with the speed this motor can attain on most hulls, I would not chance it.
If that skeg comes apart at high speed, it isn't going to be pleasant.

Agree with Gamblinman. Hope you have insurance.

Guys, thanks for the responses, I am guessing that the Skeg Guard option isn't a good one. It would be easy to cut off bad spot and install Skeg Guard but no one has recommended this Fix. ?? Thanks

Have it welded while the skeg is still on it. Someone who knows how can straighten it and weld it will no problems.

Welded or Skeg Guard both are good options. I have a Skeg guard on my Pro XS right now looks great. www.keelguard.com You can bend it back as long as you have something behind it while you tap it back into place. I had one before look like a banana and got it back pretty straight. Good Luck.
