New guy question, please: if a creek has been dry for the last several years (no fish) and now there is a creek where there used to be thanks to last year's rain, do the fish go back immediately, or do they get it the habit of spawning elsewhere? Will they return up that creek the creek that has been dry for years? May be a dumb question, but I have no idea. Probably overthinking this…
Thanks.

If the creek has some depth and some current it is worth checking.

I've had luck on places like you are describing in the last year or so. The only difficulty is just finding where they bunch up because sometimes it has more to do with the vegetation that grew during the dry spell versus the depth and contour of the crrek.

I agree with the above. I would say that if there is strong enough flow and fresh water they will go upstream. But like stated it may depend how long it was dry and what vegetation has taken over or changed in the creek bottom. Only one way to know.

If fish can get there, they will be there. I fish a creek on Fork that dries up often. When it has water, it is full of fish.
fatty has more posts than you. I have more beer in my garage right now than you!
