You can fish at Gorman Falls, just harder getting there unless you have acess from Barefoot or the other side of the river known as Smith Ranch.

any reports? My dad and brother went two weekends ago with no luck. I'm hoping the rains will get the Colorado flowing and turn this spawn up. I've been fishing elsewhere but want to take a trip there soon. Depending on the rain and any rise in the river, I might go this weekend. But will have a long drive from San Marcos TX. Any reports on water levels would help me know my options.

Thank you in advance!

I have been there twice over the past few weeks. Never kept my limit but I did had 25+ fish days. People killing them on spinning gear, but I use nothing but my fly rod. Going to head out there tomorrow morning. Not sure what the river looks like after todays rain but I'll let you know.

San Saba had a big storm yesterday and last night. You will want to check with someone out that way before you go. The Colorado may be rolling.

Went two weekends ago and caught about a hundred fish with my dad. Cleaned them and had 39 males and 11 females. Last weekend I caught 11 on Saturday and 20 on Sunday, only 6 Females with the Sunday clean. Don't know how the rain will affect things this weekend.

Which Tue. are your asking about? It should be at least a week after the rain stops to even check.

I have country west of Goldthwaite on the Colorado 40 plus miles upstream of CBSP. We have had 3" of rain this week but most came the first night early in the week. The river came up about 2' here but is almost back to normal now. Brownwood is at .18" over full so it will take a few days to run down. Buchanan is at -6.34' below full level and doesn't show to be flooded. I heard San Saba area had some 2" plus rains so the San Saba river is bringing some water. I don't see any long range effects on the river at CBSP but we can expect some off colored water for a few days. Wish I knew what that was going to do to the bite because I sure got the bug to go back for my fifth trip next week. banana

Met an old friend at Colorado Bend yesterday (Thursday). I got there around 8:30 AM and started fishing around 9. He got on the water around 10 AM. It was raining and I did not see a single other fisherman on the water. The water was very muddy from all the rain. Visibility maybe 3 inches. So I figured this would be a wasted trip. I was right. After about 5 hours of fishing, neither of us got a single bite.
If you are planning a trip I recommend waiting at least 4 days for the water to clear.
Then it will be ON. We saw large numbers of fish breaking the surface. They ARE THERE....just too darn muddy for them to see the lures. The water level is up. Highly recommend a good pair of waders.
None of the big rocks were visible - all under water. We left late afternoon after deciding Friday would not be any better and did not spend the night like we planned.
