I'm headed to Austin this weekend, bringing the boat, meeting up with some friends and hopefully catch some fish! I've been on lake Austin but haven't really fished. How is the fishing on it right now? Any tips?

Not good, Travis has better numbers. Bigger fish on LBJ or LBL

Austin is always good this time of year! Historically, yes, but that lake is in bad shape. Recent Media bass tournament took less than 15lbs to win. Travis would take more weight than that. Seeing reports of 25-50 fish days on Travis right now. It is where I would be.

Lake Austin is not fishing well right now. I would try Travis.

Travis is fishing great right now......I'd choose it over Austin any day. Last few trips I've been averaging 30+ fish up to 4lbs. There are some larger fish being caught but lips are sealed pretty good with 3 large events being hosted then in the next 6 weeks.

Glad i asked then. I was planning on fishing lake Austin. I have a 17.5 ft aluminum bass boat with a mercury 60 on it, so if its really windy out ill use lake austin as a back up.

If I wasn't going to Travis, Austin would not be my second choice. It would probably be in this order:
-Travis -Decker (20 mins away) -Buchanan (30 mins away) -Bastrop (1hr away) -Fayette (90 mins away) -Canyon (90 mins away)
After that it would be a toss up between Georgetown and Austin.....
