Cool video, greenyak. You did better than I did today on the Perdernales.

thanks, I was being lazy and didn't kayak very far, I stopped at the first spot and stayed there. I talked to a guy that was bank fishing and he got a limit just at the second spot I normally go to.

The steps seem to be fishing pretty good right now, some catching good stringers and some a few here and there. I fished Sunday afternoon and caught 26, but didnt keep any. I went back this morning while we still had some pretty good cloud cover and picked up 11 keepers, which I did bring home this time. But the fish are moving around, even saw some spawning late in the afternoon and somewhat late in the morning with the cloud cover we had. Ive seen several schools of fish traveling upstream, so these guys are on the move and coming up out of the lake to do what they are up there to do. Let the 2016 spawn begin. Hope everyone catches a good stringer or two.

Fished the steps this morning from 9 to 12. The bite stopped at 11:00, should have gone home, but we all know how it is, just one more cast. Any how, I did manage to catch 17 before they quit feeding. I let all of mine go this morning, I probably had about 7 that were to small to keep, but where I'm fishing it doesn't matter, I am getting one heck of a good fight out of these fish, big or small. I am having a great time and that is what catching fish is all about. Next trip will be tomorrow afternoon, to many other things going on until then. But I sure am looking forward to it, I think it's going to be a better bite in the afternoon.

They are hitting live cut bait.lol What my my family was taught to answer when asked what they were biting on. I guess we r just not a nice group when it comes to fishing. Since January it's been peaceful but I have never seen it this crowded out there on a weekday. It is like a zoo this week. And the trash is just a shame for such a great place. Guess it's time to keep heading West. Good luck to all down there.

I have mentioned what I use over and over again, but I don't have an issue with saying it again. I use a 1/32 oz. white crappie jig. Marabou white crappie jig to be exact. I get mine at Wal-Mart if and when I can find them. Most of the time they are sold out by now when they are in such high demand, so I try to buy mine somewhere around August through December when the shelf is full of them. They have never gone bad on me sitting around in my fishing room, plus I dont have to drive all over the place looking for some when the spawn starts to kick into high gear.I might have gone over board a little on this, but I have a bunch stock piled. But I also use these for other types of fishing through out the year as well, so I go through them pretty quick.

I just ordered a bunch of these marabou jigs from bass pro shop. It seems they have a lot more color & size options than one can find in the stores.
