I'm from central Texas and have fished several lakes around the granbury area. But I've never fished fork and me and the family are going up there for trophy largemouth with my brother. I'm an avid bass fisherman but I'm not sure where to start on fork. Does anyone have any advice for this time of year? R they on beds yet? Any help would b greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Moving baits until you get bit. It was slow for me last time I was there, found warm water but it was DIRTY! Rain is in the forecast next week but I will be there Tues, Wed, Thurs! Good Luck!

If you can swing it, hire a guide for the day. Fork can be a very tough lake to fish. A guide knows the lake, hot lures and presentations for the conditions and the time of year.

Probably won't be able to get a guide. My dad and brother and other more serious anglers used to stay at quail hollow and do pretty good just in that small arm. But that was in early April. Is it good in that are round mid march? Or do we need to stay in the main river arm? We r going weekend after next.

Right now just find the warmest water you can, I was going to the very backs of deep coves last Thurs-Fri and found cooler temps than main lake in spots above the west 515. Fishing out of those deep coves I found water temps 57.5 - 59.7 mid way out and caught some nice fish on dark color soft plastics.. The water is stained pretty much everywhere..

Redskeeter is right! This time of year it's where you can find the warmer water to get the fish active. I've seen it where a couple of degrees mean the difference in a few fish day and knocking their lights out. So that's what I would look for. Both ends of the lake are the warmest right now because they are slightly more stained.

The number one thing I see with guys is they fish a lot of dead water. So much of the shallow water on fork looks good to fisherman that they think there has to be bass here. Not true. Most of the fish on Fork relate to some kind of structure and I don't mean timber. Drains, ditches, humps, under water ponds, a fence line.......etc. This is why you see guides and locals pull into a spot fish it and if we don't get bit we roll. I'll try and break it down even more. Let's take Glade creek for instance. At any time you'll see 50 boats in there spread out from one end to the other. Most of the back is 5 foot or less for entire creek. But there's timber, willows, pad stems, grass in every part. Where do you start. Glade has drains in it that may only be 1-2 foot difference in water depth. This is where I would start and just follow them. Now if you haven't seen te lake low low low or duck hunted back there you wouldn't even know these exist. Look for these places on Fork and it will make your day much more productive.

Glade, Lil Caney, or Birch are always good place to start this time of year sir. Hope this helps and good luck

Really excellent advice and i appreciate it very much. I'll be down there the weekend of the twelfth. I'm a soft plastics oriented person. I'll be throwing the 8 inch live magic and\or the smaller ones. And TX rig of course. Do they prefer the TX or c-rig better on fork? I've heard the jig is very well liked by the bass there too!? Several of yall have mentioned those creeks so I will definitely start there. Does all the tpwd parks offer rv hookups? If not can yall suggest a good tv park in close proximity to productive water? Thanks yall

This time of year if you can find dirty water fish it. Everyone will be beating the clear water up and catching a few but find the dirty water and you'll find fish. If you think it's to stained it's not stained enough. Dirty water means fresh water from creeks/river which means oxygen

Westside RV aka. old Vals camp.. Near Birch creek, Penson, Broadtree, Garret, Shotgun pass.. All Westside areas.
Scenic 515 cabins & RV is close to both Eastside and Westside ramps, 515 East public ramp will put near,
Glade, Running, Coffee, Rodgers, Long Branch, and Bell creeks.. All these spots will be rocking good when you arrive barring and weather changes..

I think I'm going to stay at big bass RV. Next to glade. Seems everyone is pointing that direction. I'm looking for access to the lake straight from the park im in. If im not mistaken this particular park has water access. Yall have been a great help! Much appreciated. Any more particular baits they tend to favor on fork this time of year. I've heard senkos but that's every where kind of. Let me no if any body else has advice.
