I'm a complete novice when it comes to jog fishing. What's the best set up to use? Line, rod and reel?

15-17lb invizx or abrazx,7'-7'6" med heavy fast or heavy fast rod with 6:4.1 or faster reel.I prefer 7:0.1

Really depends on what type of cover your around. If im fishing around alot of wood or other cover I will go 20 or even 25. If I am in open water I go as light as 15. Any of the name brand flurocarbon will do fine. Just not Red Label.

For rod I like a Castaway Skeleton Grassmaster Braid. Get a fast reel that is comfortable to your hand.

Depends on jig size and hook thickness. The heavier or larger ones require more beef in the rod to set the hook into the bone. I prefer a Fluoro line with less stretch and increased sensitivity on jigs.
What size jigs are you thinking about, for me I use 1/2 and 1/4 oz flipping jigs most the time. Dobyns Fury 735 , Lews mg reel, 20# seaguar InvisX

Sunline Assassin FC I use this in either the 15# or 16# test depending on the cover. I like it a lot and have been using it for a while now. The P-Ion technology Sunline incorporates into their line is truly special. I think this is one of more stronger lines out there. Not to mention it's easy to work with and it's very sensitive. It's really become my go-to line for jigs. As for a rod and reel, I use the G. Loomis Mossy Back BCFR894 and the Shimano Metanium XG (8.5:1).

50-65lb braid with a floro leader for me or straight 20lb floro.

Also get you some Mpack jigs you will have fewer hang ups and will spend allot more time actually fishing rather than gettin your jig unhung from trees and brush

1/2 oz 3/4 oz jigs around cover. I fish a jig a lot around heavy cover. Use a 7'3" to 7'6" Heavy action rod. 25 lb fluoro or 50 lb Suffix 832 or Spiderwire Fluoro braid and you will get them in the boat more times than not:) Big fish lake fishing heavy wood cover use the braid;) Lake Falcon use 65lb.

Always braid for me too. Weither it is flipping or football jigs! I just have had such bad luck with fluoro I have given up on it for anything!
