i have a question commander!!![just in case .may i bring my fishing stuff with me?or should i wear waders or scuba gear to work?ha ha..... hammer

I'm off work during Spring Break, so I can fish and help pick up trash anytime then. I suggest we fish early and then pick up trash after when the fish slow down.

As for Friday this week, I have to work but can help pick up trash after and bring my boys with. The wife is going to get her kids from their dads, so I'll have my boys and will need to stick close to the bike trail on the south east side of Miller if that's okay? My youngest has autism and it's easier for me to keep track of him that way, but he would like to help too. He just loves being outside.

I paddled a round trip of 6 miles from the mouth of the creek to miller bridge and back made a sonar log that will be available soon at the insight genesis web site , where you can sign up for a free account and view it . Next I want to try from Miller bridge to the Firewheel bridge.

Freaking cool! Appreciate that since the water is so high now!

I created an account, now how do I find the map?

Also, because of the dam you'll have to put the kayak upsteam on the northwest side of Miller Rd. There is a little launch there but about 100 yd trek to get to it from the parking lot. And supposedly a log jam under Hwy 66.

Sorry Mr Novice and everyone else I will upload it today but it usually takes 3-5 days for them to check it for quality before they make it available for public viewing for all . To find the map once you log in go under the insight genesis tab and hit Social Map List , you can type the name in the search box for instance check out White Rock Creek for my first try at mapping . Thanks for the info about the log jam .

I found the search feature. There is already a small section of Ray Hubbard done, very cool looking! If your map is that detailed, you are Da' Man! flehan

Have you guys heard about the deeper fishfinder? That would be perfect for this situation.

Fellow Rowlett Creek, specifically Miller Road Bridge,
fisherman be advised that apparently both east and
west sides are technically closed. Got out this morning
and was doing very good until about 9:30 when 2 other
fisherman and I noticed a large 4x4 coming down the
dirt road on the east side with lights flashing. From
the front I thought it was a game warden and started
getting my license and stringer ready. Out pops a
construction guy telling us we are trespassing and the
police were being called. He proceeded to tell us that
there are orange signs on both sides of the creek saying
it's closed to pedestrians and vehicles. I got my stuff
and walked back to my truck and drove over the
bridge to to the west side to see him making everyone
in the parking lot on the west side leave. I just wanted
everyone to be aware. If anyone on the forum was on
the west side this morning, please respond on what
you all were told.

A bad day of fishing beats a good day at work anyday!!!

I did notice as I was driving to work this morning they were landscaping the place out. Could be the finishing touches are being made to make it purtee.

People under 17 don't need it right?

And on a second thought about going scouting...I would feel more comfortable if others went with us. I'm 37 and scouting around with someone your age is not a very good idea with someone my age. Not that anything would happen, but that's just too weird for me and I think everyone on here would agree.

Nothing personal against you, but I didn't know you were 16. Don't be meeting strangers on the interwebs, there are some strange people behind that screen. In a group of us it would be okay, I'm sure you can understand. Perception is everything.

I got a chuckle out of that one. roflmao

I drove thru there around 3pm and the parking lot was open. I parked at the bike park and did some scouting. The creek is really full this year. There are not alot of places in which you can drop down into the creek and fish it at eye level. I then drove down to Firewheel and scouted around. There were around 20 cars on the parking lot but I only saw 2 groups of fisherman. There are a few more low spots to fish but still not as many as years past. You can forget about wading at the hell hole due to the depth of the water. I talk to two groups of fisherman and both had been there for about 3hrs. They both had 6 or 7 fish on their stringers. I did alot of walking but saw very few fisherman. It seems most folks were fishing north of Firewheel. I'm tired as hell from all the walking. Tightlines everyone.

5pm.

Looks like they have the orange barricades to prevent folks from driving down beyond the pavement. There were guys fishing beyond the barricade and parked at the lot.

Nice little orange sign that I could not read fine print but quick glanced looked like a no parking beyond orange barricade. Guess all the kayakers need to build up the upper body strength to haul those tubes to the water from the concrete.
