Man good luck. Last I heard the state park was booked up. But yes, it is a great place to take kids camping. Introduce them to it slow. No electricity or showers so not quite beginner set up but the park is super nice, plenty of trails, good fishing at times. Call Sulpher Springs camp up from the park and Barefoot Camp, upriver as well. They may have some primitive stuff left. Good luck.

I got a reservation three weeks ago and there were only a couple spots then. It might be hard just for day use on the weekends. It's pretty small.

You guys that can't get camp sites should fish or hike "whatever your pleasure" during the day and get rooms in San Saba or Lampasas at night. Both are in easy driving distance. White bass bite is great right now and the weather is going to be great this weekend and looks to continue through the next week or so.

It is a truly beautiful place. I was out 2 weeks ago and we caught 35 between the two of us..most caught downriver and we caught a handful 600 yards from the ramp. Im glad to see water in there.

That's a great idea!! Thanks kg68!!! Have you seen any Marriotts over there? Most fisherman don't require a Marriott for a overnight stay on a outstanding weekend of fishing in a beautiful setting like CBSP. Just saying.

Lol kg68 I guess you didn't read the post correctly. .. they are telling me that they probably don't have camp sites available . So I asked if they had Marriott near by I work for a Marriott and I can use a discount and just spend the day at cbsp.just saying read the post before you comment on some one like that!

Don't know about Marriott's but it's only 24 miles from CBSP to San Saba and 31 to Lampasas. Some construction on the road to SS. Lampasas is better road and has more to offer.
