I just recently upgraded to the Helix 7 SI unit. I am slowly getting the settings tweaked but, for some reason still getting what appears to be prop wash on the DI and the left side down DI portion on SI too. It appears to be prop wash but only shows up on the left side of the boat when running SI. Would my talon located be affecting it or just need to adjust the trim during idle?

Trim may solve problem if not may have to move transducer.

If you have an outboard engine, it is impossible to record prop wash unless the engine is in reverse.
Post a screen shot of what you think prop wash is and also a picture of your SI transducer installation.
DI is a blend of the two Side Imaging pulses so regardless of which side of SI is affected, it shows on the DI view.

My Helix 7 SI shows fish swimming away as I idle by. Lol. I thought it was something similar too....but, because I can't catch fish on Athens, I figure it must be bass hauling [censored] away from my boat. Lol.

I'll get a picture this weekend of what I am talking about and the install. Do you think that it could be my talon interfering with the signal since it is only showing up on the left side where its mounted? I had to adjust the talon higher when I got back from test running with it because of the drag on the water. Would that cause an interference at idle though? The transducer is mounted at the lowest point just to the right of the outboard. The pics I get will be able to explain it far better than myself. I appreciate the help!

Humminbird Side Imaging "sees" from the water's surface to past vertical under the transducer on both sides. It will record sonar pulse echos from "stuff" within its coverage.

May not help the image but it looks like you need to put the plug in the transducer mount, it will keep it from having a rooster tail, goes in the empty space ahead of transducer

I finally remembered to snap a picture of what I was talking about. What is the disturbance in the top of the water column on the SI caused by?

The distinct multi-lines on the left side are echoes from the jackplate. The wider blurry line on both sides is from disturbed (aerated) water coming off the hull bottom. You do not need to add the roostertail plug since the transducer is not in the water when on plane.

Would you suggest moving the transducer somewhere else to remove the echo or is it something just to live with? I appreciate all the help since I just switched over to HB and so far still on the learning curve.

As soon as the water gets a tad warmer, I will spend a while jumping in and out of my boat adjusting angles and depth while the boats are tournament loaded to get them to show the best images. Sometimes the boat doesn't float exactly level. And the transducer has to be level. Regardless of boat angle.

You can go to YouTube and see how to check transducer level by going to the Lake and put a level on the gunnel while in the water. Stack pennies or washers till the level shows its September how many coins it took to level. Then pull out of water on a level surface and level the boat with the same amount of coins you used in the water and see how that works.
