Lol, welcome to the money pit club!

If you wonder what that means you'll find out soon enough!
Anyway welcome to the club, and don't feel bad when you have trouble locating fish because that's why they call it fishing not catching.
Sandbass/whitebass are easy to catch only when you locate them.
In the spring time which is right now look for them in the backs of the creeks and up in the shallows of the rivers that feed into the lakes because they spawn this time of year and make the migration to reproduce.
Other times of the year fish lake points and structure just off the creek channels and ledges that drop into deep water.
They will generally be found where the baitfish are, so look for bait balls on your fish finder if you have one, and if not watch the birds diving and then look for surface action.
It takes a little time to figure out but just be patient and observe your surroundings and just doing that you'll learn where to look.
Another way is to look for the boats where folks are grouping up but be courtious and don't go running between them with the big engine since they may be fishing surfacing fish and you'll scare them deep if you do plus make a lot of enemies.
Have fun!
