Could be an early spring - drum run is on.
Fished today scouting for a Charter on Saturday.
My son caught his biggest bay fish yet, a 29" Drum ... we went looking for trout but ran into several schools of large drum that were all in the 28" - 29" range drifting the flats today.
Chased them around for several hours and had a blast listening to our "reels sing" our favorite song !!!

Were you fishing in Rockport? I will be down there in mid march. I've fished there from the bank many times. This will be my first time out there in a boat. any recommendations you'd be willing to share with me?

Yes BODA, fish were cleaned and eat'en. I take filets, cut any blood on flesh, soak in ice water two hours and they are as good as it gets for white meat and only 1 worm found in our box of drum.
BUERRICH, Rockport area .... drifted and Fished deeper holes in the flats - about 1 in 5 holes had fish, and we used power pole to silently and quickly set an anchor while we fished that particular school. Popping corks w/ live shrimp => for trout and for Big Drums => No popping corks, freelined live shrimp on jigs. Used several poles and/or and re-rigged quick depending on if we drifted into trout or it was drum.

Capt would explain how you rig live shrimp on a jig I am very interested never done it.
