It works, I have done it and had it done it to me.

Had to go to ER for a Tiny Torpedo in the back of the head about 40 years ago. Long time ago a guys starts yelling at us across Scotty's cove at Holbrook and he had a worm hook deep in the back of his upper arm muscle, he grabbed a rusty filet knife in the bottom of his boat and made me cut it out, then he went back to fishing. My brother has self hooked himself in the nose twice (slab and crankbait).

I have had trap in my ear(brother did this) right after I caught my first DD. had one in back of calf (self inflicted) one in pinky finger (trap again) one in my index finger (square bill) this one I had to push through skin then cut around it with my knife until I could grab the point with needle noise pliers and yank it out. My brother has had 2 both pas the barb that we just yanked out with pliers (both traps lol) I have only had to use the line trick once and that was with the hook in pinky it was scrapping on the bone, that one came out on second try hurt so bad I felt like throwing up. My buddy did that to me in the ear with a big orange Big-O.
He kept asking where's my lure and why do I have this big backlash?

Also been hooked in the nose, once outside, once inside, both to a doctor to get out.
Other times was once in the arm and once in the hamstring when I was wearing shorts.

Only person I have hooked, beside myself in the nose, was I almost got some guy in the neck with a 6 inch pencil popper when he walked up behind at the Texoma Dam.
The 20 lbs test wrapped around his neck as I was just about to cast with my 12 foot spinning rod.

Had to sit down and take a 30 min break and drink a beer with the guy after that one.

4 or 5. I've always ripped them out with pliers while I was still in the "shocked" phase like wth just happened. Minus the very first time I caught one in the top upper right ear. Buddy had to push that through and cut off. That one hurt pretty bad and bled like a stuck pig. Ruined 2 shirts and a towel that day.

Two hooks at the same time in the same hand with a sandbass still on the other treble hook... Ended up squeezing the head off the sandbass bc it wouldn't stop flopping around... 100 degree day on eagle mountain... Went to a friends house up the road and soaked it in ice and went at it with channel locks... Didn't work... Trip to local 24 hour doc.. Shots in the hand hurt worse than the hooks!

One on the wrist, which didn't really hurt but came real close to veins. And one in the finger that hurt coming back out... A lot.

Once when I was a teenager a buddy and I were fishing a small farm pond and he hit me in the back of the head with a Zara spook. We got the hook out and kept on fishing. The only other time I got a crank bait hook in my finger when a fish made its so famous move that they do when you are trying to get them off the hook. It didn't go past the barb, so I pulled it out and kept on fishing.

I'm 34 and still at zero. . .same with falling out of the boat. But I know it'll happen. . .both of them. . .I just hope they're minor.
