I do apologies for making that statement Teaxaggies1. If you told me you had a mark on your pole, then I didnt hear you correctly on this. I also went back and edited that post to remove my poorly made comment. I do understand your frustration, I would be pissed too if someone had made that post as well and I would have called them out on it just as you did. Kudos to you for standing up for yourself and putting me back into my place of reality. I made a mistake and I also hold myself accountable for it.

Fishytx, I really do appreciate the apology, I also am sorry for going off online but I felt that I needed to say something, and sorry for giving you some confusion on fish size the other day. I just want to make sure that were on the same page about keeping the size of fish, I fish plenty of times and I rarely keep more than I need as I just keep what I want for a nice meal one evening. I am always on the look out for people keeping small fish because I want their to be enough whites for everyone to catch. Hope we can get on better terms sometime this year out on the river. Have a good day. Tight Lines.

Since I edited my previous post, I will add this post to explain my comments above. I made an incorrect assumption post that should have never been made and now have to eat crow to correct it. I thought a couple of guys were keeping fish that were border line of being illegal, but I was wrong.

Awww no, you posted exactly what needed to be said and I respect that. It was I who made a bad judgment call on how I post things on here. It's all good. I'm telling ya, I own up to what ever I do, be it right or wrong. A lesson learned on my end. Never assume, get facts and only facts.

Shocker. Under size fish in Granger. What is it with that place?
Thanks for the report. When it comes to the whitebass in Granger, I suspect the fishing pressure has everything to do with the smaller size of the fish. In a lake that small taking whitebass over 10 inches year after year leaving only the smaller fish to spawn inadvertently promotes the survival of a smaller fish. TPWD needs to grab some of the Somerville whitebass and stock them in Granger and then give them a spawning season or two to rebuild the genetics..

I've caught more under size fish out of the Yeagua this year than I ever have, but the whites in Somerville lake do have some great genetics. I don't know if this can happen or not, but sometimes I wonder if these whites may have a little hybrid striper in theither genetics. I have caught some really nice fish on the river, they come and go though out the spawn. When the water is murky, look for bigger fish to be caught. When the water is crystal clear, seems like smaller fish will be caught, but there are some real nice fish in Granger lake to be had. I had a friend who caught a giant white last year. Even the game warden took a double look at it, he said it was the biggest one he had seen. I saw a piture of a white a guy caught and I think the guy told me it was 19 inches. This was last year on a fly rod just below the steps.

Fishing pressure and drought has had a big effect on Granger. During the summer months you would see huge schools of whites chasing shad on the main lake. Now days, you don't see hardly any. This small of lake, pressure plays a big factor to the health of the lake. Back in the 80's and early 90's you would catch nice size whites and crappie every year. Then the lake got known for white and crappie and the pressure started. We used to be able to get our boat up Willis Creek and go along way up. When we would come back we never had to use a spot light for all the lights on the bank. Talk of raising the lake to 506' has never happened. Plus putting a bigger pump station has effected the lake levels during the summer. During drought times, the lake drops fast. This has to effect the quality of the water and the oxygen rate for the fish. A good re-stock of the lake would be nice. Like posted it would help with the genetics make up for the fish. There is still some nice ones to be caught, I've seen some nice ones already. The pressure will always be on Granger. But a little help of a re-stock would be nice.

They must letting water out of Georgetown lake because there is a strong current at the steps. Stronger than the norm. But I haven't looked at the water flow chart.

it shows that they are letting 22cfs out at this time. Doesn't seem like much.

I know it's not much, but one can tell the difference. It seems to be just a tad more than normal, but it is noticeable.

Agreed! There isn't much water usage and Lake Georgetown is full. If they are still pumping in water from Stillhouse/Belton it makes sense. Looking forward to a much better WB run this season.

My wife and I stopped at Willis creek Monday. We went just inside the park. No luck. We spoke to a couple of people in boats they said they caught a few up stream by the log jam.
I almost drove over to the bridge at Willis creek to walk down stream. But my wife and I are too out of shape to walk too far. So we did the easy walking inside the park.
We were going to stop at the steps, but there were 30 cars or more there. I could only imagine how crowded it may have been on the water. So I didn't stop. Maybe next time.
We went to the primitive boat launch area about 5:30pm to look and finish off our minnows. We didn't see anyone catching anything.
I am curious to know if any of that crowd at the steps were catching? This week is going to be perfect weather. I would think it is only a matter of time.
Tight lines all!
Shut up and fish!

I went out there on the weekend (Saturday). Fishing was slow for the most part but I was able to catch my limit in keepers. I only caught males (whites), 1 undersized crappie and a bluegill. Was a nice quiet day out, not a lot of people fishing.
