City folk have been taught that maize is corn .... Only those of us who have fed, planted and harvested it know what maize really is .........

Well, I grew up farming Wheat, Milo, Haygrazer, Coastal in Young County, and I'm not from the city. I have harvested wheat from Tye, Tx all the way to Chugwater, Wy a few times so I may or may not know a thing or two about farming. Maybe the question I missed on my Agronomy final in college was the one about maize and milo. I think I only made a 99.

Anyway, this is way off topic, so back to fishing.

I think the whole point of soaking it is so that it will sink to the bottom but sometimes when I use it a little early some of it sinks in some of it floats and also I like to use a shad in there dead shad mixed up in it so that the shad soaks into the grain and 1 cup of liver if I got it or some blood or something chicken anything that's going to make it work good. But for all the trouble it is I'm not seeing any good results I would like to use a bag of dog food vs this nasty s***. Cat food

I've caught a lot of nice channel cats using maize/milo, whatever you want to call it. If you are a neat freak, or have nice carpet in your boat, it may not be for you.

I wont catfish from my boat due to the slime. I only catfish off my dock. Thanks guys for the advice. I have 50lbs of milo cooking, hope the hot weather helps it cook faster.

I have also put a hot light over it in the cooler weather to speed up the process. Be sure to stir daily. I like for it to have the sweet smell before using. That way it sinks well when using. You'll also learn not to use too much chum. Just enough to get them interested in the area. Good luck!!! And Oh, wife does not like the smell at all!!!

I'm an old farm boy and I can tell you that a Maize filed is where you shoot dove. A corn field is where you shoot ducks and geese.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

I have seen chum made from about everything one can imagine. A guide I used to fish with named W.C. Briley
had a storage unit full of 55 gal plastic barrels of chum. It had wheat, soybeans, milo, blackeyed peas, corn and anything else he could get in it for cheap. Sure was some nasty black stinky stuff but it would bring them kitties in real quick. His cheese dip bait was the best I ever used too. I happened to be in the boat with Old Briley on Raybob when he caught his 10,000th catfsih. He had one of those little clicker counter things and every fish caught was registered on it. Never fished with Briley that we didn't get a limit with 4 people in the boat.
Chum works so don't be shy about using it. It's worth the effort. I like to pick out at least 4 likely spots and chum each one then go back and fish the first spot I chummed. Usually take me about 1 hour. If after 30 minutes and no bite I move on the the next spot chummed.

Best "redneck" answer ever clap thumb

For the record I believe I'm qualified as a redneck because I am always in the sun and my neck is almost always red cheers on a serious note y'all are right because in the US both milo and corns including maize are used to feed cattle unlike in Asia corn kernels are mainly human food but milo (grain sorghum) are produced and sold in flour powder forms. But the bottom line is the two species are not the same. But hey if them kitties like em, it really doesn't matter what y'all calling em, just chum and tight line fish

Side note, 99 out a hundred made us old farm boys proud and I am 100.01% positive that the one question you got it wrong was redneck lingo 101 lol roflmao

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.
