I have a 2010 Navionics Hot Maps Premium. I mainly use it for Falcon and Amistad. I know that Hot Maps Premium is discontinued. I have been thinnking of getting the new version Navionics +. What do you all recommend? or should i just get an update? Do you all know if Amistad or Falcon have been updated? Thanks in advance...

You don't have to guess what maps Navionics has, you can view the current ones on the Navionics website's Web App. That is updated daily and what you would get when you add those maps to a new card.
Since you have a map card, you can get the discount version of Navionics+ 2GB card for $99 by purchasing the Navionics Update card. You activate the UPDATE card with your card and the Update card becomes Navionics+ with no maps. You choose what locations to download to the card from anywhere in the US and Canada up to the 2GB capacity including the Sonar Charts map layer. You would still have the use of your Premium card--just can't use it to activate another Update card.
If you purchase the Navionics+ Preloaded card, that is 16GB and has all the Navionics Nautical Charts for the US and Canada already loaded and can have Sonar Charts added when updated. That card is $199.
All new purchases include a year of Freshest Data updates.

Since January the Update card is a 16Gig and it already pre-loaded with the Canadian and US waters. The only thing you have to do is download the Sonarcharts layer for the water you intent to fish.

This is what I seem to have experienced. I bought the updates card at BPS yesterday for my Navionics HotMaps Premium that's maybe 5 years old. During the upgrade process, I noticed that the card seemed to have a lot more than 2GB on it. Also, when I went to update it, the Quick Installer software said something to the effect of, "You already have the most up to date information" which scared me at first, making me think that I didn't need the upgrade chip in the first place. But what it looks like happened is that the Quick Installer was telling me that I didn't need the cumulative daily updates because the upgrade chip already had the most recent info.

The Navionics Update card does not have any maps on it when you purchase it. The only data on the card is what you choose to download to it. Did you look at the Navionics+ video to see how to select what data to load to the card? That data would be what Navionics has for that day. If you try to update what you just loaded to the card, it would be the same data.

Hi everyone,
Tshombe Moore with Navionics here. Wallyandre and Wayne P are both correct. If you have a 2GB Navionics Updates card, that card is blank and would need to be activated with an older (October 2010) Navionics card or any competitors card AND you would need to download the maps as well. The Navionics Updates cards that were produced after December 15th 2015 are pre-loaded with nautical chart data, on a 16GB card and simply needs to be activated with an old Navionics card or any competitors card. Once activated, the pre-loaded nautical chart data, for all of US & all of Canada, fresh and salt water is available. The SonarChart and Community Edits data is available through a customized download where you can select the specific area to add it to. The Navionics database is updated daily to provide the latest information we have. As Wayne P pointed out, you can view any body of water anywhere in the world on the navionics.com web app. Thanks Wallyandre & Wayne P for all of your great contributions!
Tshombe

Tshombe, what do I need to do to get the rest of my "freshest data" reinstated. After 4 months it said my time had elapsed. I still have about 2 months left before my true time frame is up. Date is at the bottom right corner of the receipt.

Is the expiration is for you're Boating App on you're phone or related to you're Hotmap Platinium on the invoice?

Is the expiration is for you're Boating App on you're phone or related to you're Hotmap Platinium on the invoice? It was for the platinum card. I only updated it 1 time in the few months that it was available due to having poor Internet service here at home. I'd like to try to update it again before the 1 year is up because the main lake I fish is missing 20' of the shoreline around the entire lake.

Did you try to update it on you're computer recently? You will see how many days on the right side of the window the number of days left.

Grout-Scout call the customer service number(800)848-5896 and explain to them the situation, as well as the receipt date etc and they should be able to get you fixed up. If not please let me know.

Truth be told, when I think about calling them I'm too busy to mess with it (work) and when I get home I don't think about it due to a thousand other things going on, I'm sure about the time I actually get around to contacting them I'll really be out of the 1 year time frame. obviously I don't fish very much and I have a south premium that still has all the contours on it so I just use it when I do go.
