If connected to FF with the link, then you can store more points on the graph and also control the unit using the graph and tell it to move the boat to another waypoint. As far as control and alignment, that is dependent on the wind, waves. It will always face your boat into the wind.

You are in control to whatever amount you want. When in stumps and such, I'm not constantly trolling down a shore fan casting. I'm more apt to move a little and flip then move some more. The only time that I bump a stump is when it is hidden under the water.

3. The Terrova and Ulterra both come with a foot control. Doesn't work the same as a cable steer but you can use your foot to control when your hands are busy, just like the cable steer.

It is a little hard to wrap your head around unless you just try one and then you still have to give it a chance to adapt. There are some that never like it and switch back but the majority that use one will never switch again from everything that I read. I know that you think that using a remote will take time away from actual fishing. In reality, it gives me more time fishing and less time correcting for wind and waves.

I would bet that I can fish out deep in rough water in my 15 footer and have a more relaxing day than most people would in a larger boat having to stand on one leg all day fighting it. That is where it really shines. I have never been in water so rough that the spot lock won't hold the boat. I've been on 20 footers where partners have to trade off running the tm when boating a fish or retying. I'll be next to them sometimes fishing off the back of the boat or taking my time sitting down and changing lures or getting a drink and a cigarette and my partner never has to stop his fishing to move to the tm.

If you ever fish Joe Pool (or I am thinking of trying Grapevine) then let me know you can hop on and test it out.

Thanks for the offer to watch it in action. I do go to Pool. Often. Just not lately, since the last flood. Been busy trying to hammer em on the plant lakes. How is it on battery. And does it have smooth power? Or is it jerky. I'd imagine it is smoother than me foot controlling mine. I have ADD bad. Lol. I'm liable to beach my boat because I'm not paying attention to the boat. Watching and feeling line. Lol. Lord help me when I hang one of them 7-8lb overs on that lake close to the dam, during a 20mph south wind. Lol.

I really could have used it this evening chasing white bass. They were on bottom, in 21 ft. Not 20....not 22 ....just 21'ft. And only 21 ft with hard bottom. I'd spot them, drop a spoon, and the wind would push me off them before I could catch a second one. Then I'd spend 5 minutes looking around for "the herd". Lol.

If it weren't for the autopilot feature I'd sell my Terrova, I might sell it anyways. I hate foot pedals but I think I hate the noise the turning motor makes even more. Spotlock isn't tight enough, too much drift allowed.

Steez, with the autopilot feature you set the motor to go the direction you want it to go and it'll stay pointed that direction. No hands really needed unless you want to follow a contour.

I went fishing and got blown around so much I knew I had to solve the problem. I went out with a guide on BP and saw ipilot in action and was sold. I just ordered a terrova yesterday online. Got a 45" 80# for $1350, no tax, free shipping. Can't wait to try it out later this week.

Mine is 12v and it is better than my old tm. I've never ran the battery down on it. The power kind of sucks. Using the foot control it is a dial just like a traditional. Using the hand control, you have to bump it up in .5 increments or it has a full speed button that will take it from any power to full power with one push but you can also tell it to maintain a speed. Say you want 2 MPH, set it at that and it will adjust the power to maintain that speed. Hopefully my boat will be fixed in a week or so and I'll be heading back out to Pool a few times a week.

How audible is the motor. I was impressed with this when I fished with a guide but the noise really bothered me. It was several years ago, perhaps its been improved. What are the benefits of linking it with your bird? Will it follow a depth contour. Anyone use the Motorguide version.
