I'll be honest, anything over 1/8 oz I way too heavy for rc. I usually fish 1/8 oz rooster tails, and 1/8 oz in the tiny crankbaits I throw and the small rattle traps. For jigs, you'll probably want to fish 1/16 or 1/32, I usually fish 1/32. Usually you want to use the absolute lightest weight you can get away with. Right now it looks like south of miller is good, but they should make it to firewheel soon, assuming they can get past the dam.

And also buy the cheap bass pro inline spinners, they're cheaper and work just as well, if you buy marabou jigs just buy 1/16 oz and 1/32 oz in the big packages from bass pro, white is good. 1/32 oz jig heads and small zoom flukes along with small peg floats, 4lb line and 4 lb fluorocarbon, small BB sized split shot and size 6 bait holder hooks for minnows....that should be all you need.

HBBQ, I'm certainly no expert, but I was out there today, just South of the Miller bridge, and there was plenty of activity (both fish and fishermen). I only saw one sandie caught while I was there (for about 2 hours) but they were definitely in there popping on top.

Kung Fu Jimmy, did I see you down at Miller Rd. bridge today? I was wearing a blue Tackle Warehouse shirt.

And dont forget your cleats and rope. It's no fun trying to find your way out of the water when the banks are slick.

Roadrunner Red, chartreuse 1/8 & 1/4 oz
Cigar bobber, fish the jigs under the bobber

Should I plan at Miller Rd. and walk south to the bend or on Firewheel Parkway and go south?

Please be nice to the new guy.

I have never thrown spinners at RC because I am to cheap. I throw tiny flukes with a 1/16 jig head and the smallest slip cork I can get away with. I also use minnows with a fine wire #6 drop shot hook under a small slip cork. I use 4 lb test early in the season and move to 6 lb test later due to the chance of hooking a hybrid. I also carry a rope and folding landing net in a cheap back pack. Go to Ross dept store and buy the cheapest fooball/soccer cleats you can find ($10 or less). The creek is looking good this year. I just hope they remove that temporary dam before they finish.

To the guys talking cleats, waders, and rope--could you elaborate? Are you wearing neoprene/bootless waders with cheap athletic cleats, jumping into the deep part of the creek, and then using rope over trees/roots to climb your way back up the steep banks?

When the weather warms up you can get away without wearing waders too, just wet wade with the cleats.

Most of the creek is too deep to wade this year. Be careful out there.

Bass Pro Shop Osprey waders on sale for $89.00. Awesome deal! Normally $125

They are stocking foot breathable waders. You can put boots, cleats, flats, or even high heels over the stocking foot. I have owned this brand for three years and they last way longer than the Mag 3's from academy. And they r $20 cheaper.

The fish have made way past miller, FYI. Copper heads are already on the trails in the woods. Keep your head down looking at the path. The big orange koi is still at Omaha.

I'd throw in some white rooster tails and some blue and white lil' fishies, and maybe the smallest blue and silver rattle trap, and waders, and cleats, and a rope, and a stringer, lol.

Doug, camo hat with velcro patches, ugly stik gear bag.

In another month, add insect repellent to the list. Gonna need that deep woods stuff.
