I presently use a 5'6" Ugly Stik spinning rod.

I hear a lot of folds like the ProAngler in the same length.

I want to try the G rod in the same length someday.

Whatever feels the best in your hand. I will say to make sure the cork is flush with the blank. I had one that had a ridge where the cork met the reel keeper. It tore my hand up. You'll be putting a lot of tension in that area.

I got my butt handed to me by Wally Marshall at our crappie forum get together dock shooting Palestine, and he used one of his Mr. Crappie kid combos with a closed face reel and a 4' rod. He used it all day long and sat in the passenger seat of the floor of the boat all day. It was embarrassing and hilarious at the same time. Just goes to show you, you can make anything work!

5'5" Wally Marshal is my favorite. Some prefer to use a longer rod but not me. As Jacob said, whatever feels best for you.

The new 5'5" Pro Angler shooter is probably the best that I've used. Ed Phillips did a really good job on this rod.

The 2016 B'n'M Sharpshooter Six is a terrific new dock shooter. Our ProStaff have been testing this rod on docks all over the country for the last year, and it is now in production.

Extra stiff backbone was shooting jigs as light as 1/64 on 2-pound test. A new micro-eye at the tip reduces line waggle on the shot and aluminum eyelets for reduced line drag on the shot.

I use a bonehead 7'. I can shoot it farther on a longer rod.

I use the 6'8" Walleye series from G-Rod

Worth the wait...I promise you.

I have a couple of the old 5'6" Wally Marshall Signature series rods that are about all I use. They have pulled a many a crappie out from under docks. Sure hope I don't break em since they are no longer made.

Me too! I've learned if you find something you really like that works well, you better get extras because they'll quit making them.
Ernest taught me a trick on those green 5'6" Wally poles was to lop off about 3 or 4 inches off the end and re-glue the tiptop back on. It stiffened them up a some and gives a little more distance.

The Wally poles i really liked were a grey color instead of green and not sold separately - only came on a combo. Those ones were marked IM7 and labeled pro series. The 5'2" one of those is a real nice rod for shooting.

Nothing like feeling zero bite but seeing that line jump up in the air and then sticking a jig into a big old slab. That is some kind of fun!
